Terry TOWN OF SOUTHOL D LANDFILL CLOSURE MINUTES OF OCTOBER 4, 2002 PROGRESS MEETING Af4"diation Town of Southold Dvirka and Bartilucci Consulting Engineers Dvirka and Bartilacci Consulting Engineers Terry Colitracting & Materials, Inc. 1 _ Minutes of Previous (September 27, 2002) Meetings No comments by anyone. 2. Status of Submittals a 003/007 Torn Maher verbally agreed with Teny's planting proposal and cost which was previously subtznitted. Bob Terry said he will consult with one of his men and then move forward with ordering the Eastern Red Cedars. Bob also requested that we advise him on where the wildflower seeding is to be applied. Jim Mulligan will confer tivith Jim Bunchuck to get the location. 3. Status of Sand Screening. To soil Manufacture and Testin Bob Terry said he moved the screener from the borrow pit over to the 17 -acre parcel this morning; to resume sand screening for BPL. The quantities of available material on-site to mw:iufacture additional topsoil were then reviewed. Estimates of on-site material are as follows: • 2,000 cy of arsenic contaminated soil in borrow pit; 4,000 cy of wood chips/loam in borrow pit on side slope; 0 MVI'1004201(oI) 1 10/07/2002 KION 13:19 FAX 2004/007 ® 0,000 cy of clean sand in southwest corner of borrow pit. To snake the estimated 18,000 cy of topsoil necessary to complete the job (10,000 ey for landfill and 8,000 cy for perimeter of job site), it is necessary, therefore, to import about 6,000 cy of compost or heavy soil from off-site. Jim B -upchuck called Long TsIand Compose and was quoted several ,prices for different kinds oC material. Boli Terry ageed to -visit Long Island Compost's facility to inspect those materials. Tarn Maher said that we will have to do chemical analyses of whatever material is selected. 4. States of Soil Test Results Terry's testing is just about up-to-date with satisfactory results. 5. Status of Construction on 17 -Acre Parcel Construction cii the 17 -acre parcel is on hold pending approval by the Town for new bonding. All sand screening ori the site as of this date is to be charged to the landfill project as a separate itein on the payment application. S. Rhe la(zement of Sand Along the McBride Property Bob Terry said this work will be performed later this month. 9. Status of Completion and Testing of Gas Moriitorina Wells Along Souitiwestern_BoundaU Jim Mulligan said the four gas monitoring wells were tested yesterday and no gases wen; detected. 10. Pyoposal for Plantings Along Southern BoundM See Iter, No. 2. 11. Abandonment of Existing Land -fill Well Jim Mulligan said that the steel casing had been cut and cernent was Placed in, the top of the casing. Status of Installation of Vial Coated Fence Along Boundary of Residential .Area Terry Contracting has completed most of the work and wiIl be finished on Monday. 14. Status of New Access Road The new access road is on hold pending word from the Town. 15. Maintenance of the B©rxow Pit Perimeter Road and Grading of the Cart Areas a OO6l007 it was agreed that this work will be addressed i.. more detail after the rapping is complete. M. privacy Slats Along Now Access Road to Cox Lane This will be addressed when the Town resolves issues on land transfer with Corazini. 17. Other ® Bob Terry said he will call Cassola this afternoon to schedule Nvork on the monitoring wells. Bob Terry raised an issue concerning the thickness of material comprising the roads on the landfill.
