HomeMy WebLinkAbout03/30/2015 Herb Adler, Jr. Southold Town Hall Chairman P O Box 1179 Southold, NY 11958 631-765-1800 th 375 Committee Meeting MINUTES March 30, 2015 6:00 PM Southold Town Hall Board Room Present: Herb Adler, Jr., Walter Jackson, Peggy Murphy, Lauren Brigham, Norman Wambach, Cork George Maul, Mark Terry, Aileen Mazzei, Mike Basile, Sam Basile, Daniel McCarthy Mike – Discussed the Eagle Scout Project his son Sam is working on. Cork – Discussed his project on the Mile Marker Project. Mark – at last meeting we discussed our ability to reset Mile Markers for Mile Markers Day. Mark Wolfgang will be back on April 1, 2015 to let us know what we need. Herb – Other groups working on restoring markers completely. Mark – Some of them broken Herb – I am worried about the repair. Mark – we will fix it to the best of our ability. Cork – Who was helping you? Aileen – Zack, What Company? Cork- They are in Huntington. Mark – Grant Money, elevate awareness for Mile Markers. Sam – we would do fund raising. Mark – We had a repair and restoration offer on the table from Peconic Monument Company. Cork – Three stones – Three at highway and one in not original Mile marker. Aileen – we have two different projects for each Scout. Cork – If not repaired jus reset for mile marker day. Coordinate with Zack. Zack changed grant application after hearing from Eagle Scouts. Aileen – Also two signs for mile markers, Scout project not approved yet council. thth Cork – They are restoring & resetting them may take over one year. 375 Mile Marker day May 16. Three markers are to be set for the day, maybe red ribbons on markers & post card when finished answering questions. Herb – some on private property. Cork- we will survey the stones and sent a blank letter to property owners. Mike – Scouts would come in after and they would set a template and any other ones after they are set. Cork – they are in the highway garage. Mark – Can troop help with our Mile Marker Day. Sam – Yes our troop could help out. Aileen – we could work out how to proceed. Cork – Maybe get together with Markers and Zack. GPS used to find exact spots. Mike – we used GPS for cemetery – Boys helped out. Scouts have to go before council and tell them how they will reset them. Mark – We will try our best to set the markers in time. Mike – you just made fake tombstones so we can make fake markers if need be. Can organize refreshments for any activities. st Cork – 1 marker sign needs to be made. Someone will hand out map, poster & brochures. End is at Old Main Road. Peggy – Status of the book. Herb – need names of people who worked on the book and committee. Walter – what troop are you? Sam – Number 6 st Daniel – August 1 is parade has open house, should we be involved or give funding? Herb – They should due it themselves. Daniel – Worship Services? Peggy – No was going to be in December and I am done in July. Herb – Yes, should be for Holiday. Mark – Who will be project manager? Herb – I don’t mind doing it. Cork – Ringing of the Bells – Sunday 4/12/15 @ noon. Herb – Book is nearly done. Geoffrey need list of people we want to name in the book. He will e-mail prices and amount of copies. Peggy – where are we going to sell them? Herb – Historical Societies. Mark – North Fork Promotional Council and Historical Societies. Careful on the number of copies printed. Herb – Maybe 5 or 10 dollars per book and they should sell for 20 dollars. We will order around 500 books. Linda – Had to order a certain amount before they printed our book. Peggy – Last meeting spent 45 minutes on items that have nothing to do with committee and tonight 30 minutes on Scouts. Cork – Agenda items first than anything else. Peggy – Parade three enthusiastic grand Marshalls, Indian Museum no response. Maybe people more comfortable if antique cars hold 2 people. Herb – I have no problem. Mark – Any horses yet? Peggy – Yes, Entry form on Town website. Fireman feeding them at fire house and we pay for food and ours is at Historical Society. Mark – End of parade serving Hot Dogs and Refreshments. Peggy – Fireman at Firehouse and others at Historical Society Linda – for food double order and split bill in half. Herb – Can send in Invoice Linda – If fire department can handle it please let them do ordering and refrigeration. Peggy – They are young and eager to help. Mark – Need Estimate? Herb – They will know how much to order. Mark – OK, whoever is in the parade will get the food? Herb – surprised fire department have liquor but not on Historical Society Property. Peggy – Ty reviewing stand over 3,000 dollars looking at other options. Mark – Banners? Peggy – Yes Peggy - Bob Fisher thought Bob White should take his place. th Walter/Cork – put Douglas Moore Concert on August 8 at 7:30 with Picnic beforehand. Cork – enough of room Walter – yes Herb – Chairs Walter – only for orchestra Herb – Historical Society Typical paperwork. What would you need from Society? Mark – How much for parade? Peggy – Banners 4-500 dollars and price for magnets on Side of car – don’t know. Linda – Put no names so can be reused Mark – Maybe $1,000 dollars for food. Herb – Ask Joan Tyrer, she might know. Mark – 3,000 dollars for viewing stand? Peggy – The county viewing stands, Ty is working with Goldberg. We only have 2,000 dollars in our budget. Peggy – No public officials in cars – will walk. Mark – all be in grand stand. Peggy – didn’t invite Politian’s. Mark – Committee should decide if we should invite everyone. Walter – Should invite Governor on down. Walter – I have addresses if you need them. Carol – I can make up Labels Motion made to adjourn by Walter Second by Linda Adjoined at 7:55 p.m.
