Policy pertaining to public requests to conduct projects on or related to Town owned or
managed open space adopted on April 21", 2015 by resolution 2015-362.
Organizations and members of the public that request permission to conduct projects on
or related to Town open space will be strongly encouraged to choose projects that are on
the Town's Open Space Project List and that have had any prerequisite projects
completed. If they select a project from the list a Town representative with knowledge of
the project and/or open space will be assigned to coordinate with the organizations or
members of the public and they may proceed with the project. The Town representative
will monitor the project and provide status reports as needed and the project list will be
updated accordingly. Organizations and members of the public MUST coordinate their
project with the Town, inclusion of the project on the project list does not mean they may
simply go ahead with the project on their own.
Should the organization or member of the public not wish to choose a project from the
list or wish to skip over a prerequisite project they may still request permission for their
project but this will require a formal Town review and approval by the Town Board. In
order for the Town to have sufficient time to properly review the proposed project
requests will be made at least 30 days in advance of the proposed commencement of the
project. If necessary the Town may require more than 30 days for their review.
The request must include all details necessary for the Town to determine that the project
meets all of the same conditions required for inclusion on the project list.
If the project meets these conditions then the Town Board may approve it and the project
will be added to the project list or, in the case of projects with prerequisites, modified and
it may proceed.
