This application must be filled in by typewriter or ink and submitted to the Building Department with the following:
A. For new building or new use:
I . Final survey of property with accurate location of all buildings, property lines, streets, and unusual natural or
topographic features.
2. Final Approval from Health Dept. of water supply and sewerage -disposal (S-9 form).
3. Approval of'electrical installation from Board of Fire Underwriters.
4. Sworn statement from plumber certifying that the solder used in system contains less than 2/10 of 1% lead.
5. Commercial building, industrial building, multiple residences and similar buildings and installations, a certificate
of Code Compliance from. architect or engineer responsible for the building.
6. SubmifPlanning Board Approval of completed site plan requirements.

INSTRUCTIONS
a. This application MUST be completely filled in by typewriter or in ink and submitted to the Building Inspector with 4
sets of plans, accurate plot plan to scale. Fee according to schedule.
b. Plot plan showing location of lot and of buildings on premises, relationship to adjoining premises or public streets or
areas, and waterways.
c. The work covered by this application may not be commenced before issuance of Building Permit.
d. Upon approval of this application, the Building Inspector will issue a Building Permit to the applicant. Such a permit
shall be kept on the premises available for inspection throughout the work.
e. No building shall be occupied or used in whole or in part for any purpose what so ever until the Building Inspector
issues a Certificate of Occupancy.
f.. Every building permit shall expire,if the work authorized has not commenced within 12 months after the date of
issuance or has not been completed within 18 months from such date. If no zoning amendments or other regulations affecting the
property have been enacted in the interim, the Building Inspector may authorize, in writing, the extension of the permit for an
addition six months. Thereafter, a new permit shall be required.

General Notes
I . All work shall be performed In strict accordance with the
rules and regulations of the Southold Building Code and the
New York State codes having jurisdiction over any portion
of the work.
2. The general contractor and all subcontractors shall visit
the site and verify all dimensions and the existing conditions
covering or affecting the work prior to construction. Any
discrepancies or omissions which would Interfere with the
satisfactory completion of the work described herein shall
be reported to the architect.
3. Before starting work, the contractor shall make a
thorough examination of those portions of the structure In
which the work is to be performed, checking all the
adjoining or underlying locations. Report to the architect
any and all conditions which may Interfere with or otherwise
affect or prevent the proper execution and completion of
the work. Do not start the work until such conditions have
been examined and a course of action mutually agreed upon
4. Failure to notify the architect or the owner of
unsatisfactory conditions will be construed as an
acceptance of the conditions to properly perform the
required work.
5. The execution of the work constitutes acceptance of the
conditions. Later claims will not constitute relief from the
requirements of the work, nor will extra compensation be
paid by the owner.
G. All work is to conform with drawings and specifications
of the architect and engineer consultants.
7. The general contractor is to maintain a complete and up
to date set of drawings on the Job site at all times,
Including contract documents and specifications.
8. The contract documents and drawings are not to be
scaled under any circumstances. Field approvals by the
architect are recluired are required for final locations of
exterior and Interior partition walls, wall openings, electrical
outlets and devices including light fixtures, mechanical
devices and equipment, plumbing fixtures, and decorative
surfaces and materials.
9. Furnish and supply all materials, labor, and equipment as
required to perform and complete the work Indicated in the
contract documents and drawings.
10. it shall be the contractor's responsibility to ascertain
all prevailing procedures including: Storage and toilet
facilities, protection of existing worlk to remain, access to
work area, hours of permitted work„ availability of water and
electric power, and all other conditions and restrictions,
for this particular location.
I I . The general contractor shall take every precaution to
r-f7ect the existing work to remain. If work to remain
becomes damaged during the coursie of operations, it wan
be repaired to the owner's satisfact:lon, at no additional
cost.
12. The general contractor shall obtain any and all permits
required for the performance of the work, and also file the
necessary documents with the Department of Buildings In
preparation for permitting.
13. The general contractor shall make the necessary
arrangements to utilities and services temporarily
disconnected while performing the work as required, and
maintained for temporary use.
14. The general contractor shall do all cutting and
chopping for all subcontractors and trades.
15. The general contractor shall provide proper shoring
and bracing for all remaining structure prior to removal of
existing structure.
I G. The general contractor shall be responsible for
necessary patching and refinishing of the adjacent
properties as recluired due to contract work within the
project site.
17. The general contractor will be responsible for
scheduling all Inspections as required, Including:
(a) foundation
(b) rough framing
(c) rough electrical
(d) rough plumbing
(e) final electrical
(f) finish
18. Surplus material of every character resulting from the
work, which may be left over during the work and after the
work Is completed, shall be hauled away and the site left
entirely clean and unobstructed on a regular basis.
19. Execute the work in a careful and orderly manner with
the least possible disturbance to the public.
20. The general contractor Is solely responsible for
construction safety and shall hold the owner, architect, and
assigns harmless from litigation arising out of the
contractors failure to provide necessary construction
safety means and methods.
2 1. Perform the work In accordance with the highest
standards and established practices of the trade, and
conform to all village, state, and federal authorities having
Jurisdiction over this work.
22. Work specified shall be performed by subcontractors
regularly engaged in the supply and installation of work
required by these specifications.
23. It Is the intent that the contract documents and bid
specifications Include all labor and material to accomplish a
complete installation. Bidders are requested to include any
Incidental work that might occur during the Job. After the
signing of the contract there will be no extra charges
allowed for any labor or material necessary to complete
the work whether exactly described In these specifications
and drawings or not.

I . All portions of the proposed structure shall comply with
the Building Code of the State of New York and the
Residential Code of the State of New York.
2. All portions of the proposed structure are designed to
comply with local geographic and climactic criteria as
stated In the adjoining table.
3. All structural elements are designed to be adequate for
a ground snow load of 45 psi, and wind speed of 120 mph.
2nd Floor Level
4. Footings shall be at a minimum of 30 below finished
grade. C.O.
5. Poured concrete shall have a compressive strength of
2500 psi at 28 days.
G. Sill plates shall be preservative treated wood and be
Installed above the I GO oz copper termite shield.
7. Shingle siding shall conform to ASTM D 3679
requirements and be Installed In accordance with the
requirements of the Building Code of the State of New
