Congregational Church 4pm. Speaker is Reverend Dr. H G McGhee Jr.
All members are asked to donate food to share.
Members should be there at 3pm to set up.
SCHOOLS:
Greenport- Oysterponds has a representative come to Greenport Bd meetings but they also have their
own. It will be at 7:30 on Feb. 10, 2015.
Mattituck- The school is making a short video (in response to Dignity Act/education.

COMMITTEE TO HONOR A COMMUNITY MEMBER;
Honoree chosen is Helen Prince. Leroy received a reply from her son. Helen passed away in May 2013.
Her son has memories of her doing her work. He provided a copy of an article written to the LI forum.
Her sons are excited about this tribute. The United Nations Day for Teachers is in October and this may
be a good time to do this. We will ask the Town for a proclamation. Feb. 2"d will be the sub committee
meeting at Ebenezer deli. (10am?)
NEW BUSINESS:
1. March is town term limits -perhaps we will reevaluate positions and make a ballot for officers.
2. Philip Beltz announces that there will be volunteers for the first MLK action day(January 19,
2015). This is a day of service Not a day off but a day on! There will be many opportunities
throughout the town to provide community service to on that day. It will be announced in the
Suffolk Times. Valerie Shelby has made bags as a service donation. They will be stuffed with
supplies for servicemen.
3. We want to develop educational forums with conversations around race.
4. CAST received a letter from people who grew up in Southold town. They have formed a
committee to honor persons who have made a difference in their lives. They would like a
ceremony to give awards. Perhaps they can collaborate with ABTF on this project.. The town
may be able to use the Rec cEnter or the community center as a venue. CAST is having their
50th anniversary this year.
5. The movie "Selma" comes out this week. Can the schools coordinate a showing like they did
with the bullying movie.? In NYC 27,000 will see it for free. Can the ABTF coordinate this effort
with the schools.(Mike /Mr. Gamberg and Carolyn/ Mattituck.
6. Race in Southold meeting/Survey-Carolyn spoke to Supv Russell. He supports a general survey -
community health/social elements of life/feelings of safety. A survey portrays a general
attitude of a community. The old way was to use the phone book to do a random survey. Our
goal is to poll peoples race relations in our community.
7. Police advisory -chief had told ABTF members that they mainly advise on policy and operations.
The town Board are the commissioners that oversee the police Dept. Maybe a third party
advocate can be the ABTF?
8. There is discussion re: white privilege, affirmative action and civil service laws. We will continue
conversation next meeting.
9. There is a motion to adjourn made by Marjorie at 11:40 am. Cindy Seconds. All are in favor.
The next meeting will be Feb 9, 2015 at 10 am town hall.
Respectfully Submitted,
