Minutes & Discussion Notes from Meeting held
Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at 7:00 p.m.

Commencement:
The meeting began at 7:08 p.m. with five LPC members present.
Adoption of Meeting Minutes:
Acceptance of LPC meeting minutes from February 3, 2015
MOTION
made by Sam McCullough, seconded by Maureen Cullinane, to accept the February 3,
2015 LPC meeting minutes.
Motion carried: 4/0/1 (Lillian Ball abstained as not in attendance for 2/3/2015 LPC meeting)
Land Preservation Applications and Inquiries:
SCTM #1000-17.-4-16, 1000-17.-6-14.2, 1000-18.-3-30.3 & 1000-18.-6-17.3 (TUTHILL
OYSTERPONDS HOLDING COMPANY)
Planning Board’s request for comments
LPC reviewed and discussed document with drafted LPC comments in response to Planning Board’s
request for comments on the Tuthill/Oysterpond Holding Company proposed conservation subdivision
application.
MOTION
made by Sam McCullough, seconded by Anne Murray, to direct Melissa Spiro, Land
Preservation Coordinator, to incorporate revisions to draft of LPC comments on the
Tuthill/Oysterponds Holding Company properties and to present revised response letter to the
Planning Board.

Inquiry
LPC reviewed inquiry and is in favor of pursuing the donation upon receipt of application form from
landowner, subject to review and approval by the Town Board.
SCTM #1000-23.-1-19 (ROSE)
Inquiry
LPC reviewed inquiry relating to Town purchase of a barrier island beach lot in Dam Pond area and is
in favor of pursuing the acquisition under the provisions of the Small Lot Policy upon receipt of
application form from landowners, subject to review and approval by the Town Board.
PROJECT STATUS UPDATES \[executive session where applicable\]
Land Preservation Coordinator Melissa Spiro gave status update on pending projects.
Applications & Inquiries for Uses or Structures on Preserved Property:
SCTM #1000-73.-2-4 (N&L PROPERTIES)
Planning Board’s request for comments of amended site plan application
LPC reviewed Planning Board’s amended site plan application on N&L Properties for requested
comments.
LPC found that all improvements appear to be within the area excluded from the proposed easement
area and, therefore, LPC has no comments pertaining to the amended site plan application.
Stewardship and Management:
COMMUNITY PRESERVATION FUND MANAGEMENT AND STEWARDSHIP PLAN 2015
LPC reviewed draft of Community Preservation Fund Management and Stewardship Plan for 2015.
MOTION
made by Maureen Cullinane, seconded by Lillian Ball, to recommend Town Board approval
of the Community Preservation Fund Management and Stewardship Plan for 2015 as amended and
direct Melissa Spiro as Land Preservation Coordinator to present the plan to the Southold Town
Board to begin the process of adopting and enacting the Plan by local law.
Motion carried: 5/0
ANDY SENESAC (Cornell Cooperative Extension)
Mile-A-Minute Presentation
Andy Senasac provided a power point presentation pertaining to the invasive plant species commonly
referred to as Mile-A-Minute weed, and the studies and trials of using Mile-A-Minute Weevils
(Rhinonecomimus latipes) in controlled areas.
Andy’s research has provided somepositive results, moreso in sunny infected areas, in which the
weevils eat the weed but have no affect on other plant life. Other ways found to be effective are
pulling out the young plants and/or mowing best done before berries appear.
STEWARDSHIP GENERAL UPDATE
No discussion.
