Upon receipt of an application for a Pre-Existing Certificate
of Occupancy, I made an inspection of this one and one-half story
dwelling. Accompanied by Margery Burns of the Dickinson Real ·
Estate Agency, Southold, New York. I began this inspection at
approximately 1:10 P.M.
The building is a wood framed structure, shell only, and is
constructed on a concrete block foundation. First floor contains
a living room with fireplace, full bathroom, two bedrooms, and a
kitchen. Second floor accessible by stairway located in living
room has an open balcony, bedroom, and a toilet room. Heat is
furnished to building from an oil fired pipeless warm air furnace
located in cellar. A single heat outlet is located in living room
floor approximately centered in building. A roofed-over screened
in porch is attached to rear of building and an enclosed porch runs
along south and west wall of building.
The following violations of the Housing Code, Chapter 52,
Town of Southold, New York, were found:
Bathroom - first floor and half bath on second floor, no
moisture resistant floor covering, Article II, Section 52-26 A 4.
Bedroom - first floor, an interior room, window opens to
enc-~d porch, Article II, Section 52-24 C 1-3.
Bedroom - second floor, ceiling light fixture and electrical
~n box not securely fastened, hanging by B.X. conductor,
Article V, Section 52-56 A 1.
Foundation - north wall has a large crack, opening runs
vertically. Shelf wall has several cracks and is leaning
inward causing deformation of wall, Article III, Section
52-30 A, B; Section 52-31 A.

APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY
Instructions
A. This application must be filled in typewriter OR ink, and submitted in triplicate to the Building
Inspector with the following; for new buildings or new use:
1. Final survey of property with accurate location of oil buildings, property lines, streets, and
unusual natural or topographic features.
2. Final approval of Health Dept. of water supply and sewerage disposal--(S-9 form or equal).
3. Approval of electrical installation from Board of Fire Underwriters.
4. Commercial buildings, Industrial buildings, Multiple Residences and similar buildings and
installations, a certificate of Code compliance from the Architect or Engineer responsible for
the building.
5. Submit Planning Board approval of completed site plan requirements where applicable.
B. For existing buildings (prior to April 1957), Non-conforming uses, or buildings and "pre-existing"
land uses:
1. Accurate survey o~ property showing all property lines, streets, buildings and unusual natural
or topographic features.
2. Sworn statement of owner or previous owner as to use, occupancy and condition of buildings.
3. Date of any housing code or safety inspection of buildings or premises, or other pertinent in-
formation required to prepare a certificate.
