The Vendor hereby agrees not to assign, transfer, convey or otherwise dispose of this contract, or his right, title, or interest therein, or his power to execute the same, to any other person or corporation without the previous consent, in writing, of the Town Superintendent of Highways. The Vendor hereby certifies that there are no Federal or State taxes included in the above purchase price and that he is the only intermediary between the manufacturer and the purchaser. This contract comprises the entire contract between the parties and supersedes any and all other agreements respecting the property herein described. The sweeper shall have: a main pickup broom; two (2) gutter brooms, one each side; a weeping path not less than 10 feet wide; a water spray system for dust control; a hopper of not less than 21 cubic yards capacity, hydraulically operated and capable of dumping at heights up to 9J feet above ground level; a fully -enclosed all-weather operator's cab of steel and safety glass construction. The sweeper shall be the manufacturer's latest model in current production, and shall be furnished with all standard equipment, accessories and controls whether such items be expressly described herein or not. The body and frame shall be of all -steel heavy-duty construction, properly reinforced, gusseted and braced to withstand all loads imposed under normal operating conditions. The empty weight of the machine shall be not less than 15,,00 lbs. The gab shall be an all-weather design, of steel and safety glass construction' sealed and insulated with dual controls and steering wheels with full doors ands adjustable windows, and with an upholstered adjustable operator's seat. The cab shall be equipped with not less than the following: heater, windshield defroster; dual sun visors, dual exterior rear-view mirrors; 2 -speed electric windshield wipers; and control console. The control console shall have not less than the following instruments and controls: speedometer; ammeter; key ignition switch; hand throttle; manual choke; odometer, fuel level gauge; engine temperature gauge, oil pressure gauge. The engine shall be a liquid -cooled gasoline engine having not less than 6 cylinders and 260 cubic inches of piston displacement, and developing not less than 130 maximum brake horsepower and 245 foot-pounds maximim torque. The engine shall be equipped with at least the following items: full -flow engine oil filter, heavy-duty air cleanerl fuel filter, fuel pump, 12 volt electrical system; electric starter, minimum 53 ampere alternator; charge rate regulator; governor; water pump; cooling fan; minimum 70 ampere -hour storage battery. It shall be designed for operation on streets, roads, and highways under all weather conditions, and shall be for dump truck body mounting. All materials or parts not specifi- cally mentioned herein shall be consistent with the best practice of the high- way equipment industry, vGING The spreader shall be powered by a Wisconsin Model THD-2 cylinder, four cycle air cooled engine, producing 18 H.P. @-2600 R.P.M. The engine shall be mountec on the rear of the spreader, It shall be supplied with electric started, generator, battery, oil bath air cleaner, pressure oil system, and automatic choke. Controls for operatink the engine and spreader shall be attached to panel mounted on steering column., The clutch shall be electrically operated by push button Brom the cab. The gas tank shall have a minimum capacity of six (6) gallons. A 10 gauge steel shroud shall cover the engine on three (3) sides to protect the engine from rain and materials,, and shall have louvres, two (2) rows on the hinged door, and one (1) row on the back side. The bottom of the enc- ne housing shall be made of no less than 1/4" steel plate reinforces with angle. Conveyor chain moving parts shall be propeeted by separate 10 gauge, easily replaceable vover plates running the full length of the inside of the hopper. The width of the discharge opening shall be 14". The height of the opening shall be manually adjustable by means of an infinitely adjustable, positive locking, quadrant type gate control operable from the left fide of the spreader. Sime supports must be so located to fit &nside 101 long truck dump body. The top of the hopper must be channel formed for strength and rigidity. The front and bacl plates shall be flanged to support the side plates for additional strength. An inverted "V" type epnveyor bridge shall be placed inside the hopper, and so located to keep material weight from the chain yet not impede material flow to the drag chain. 'No (2) flasher lights shall be at the top rear corners of the spreader,. ONVYZUR The conveyor chain shall have a 2" pitch with an overall width of 18". The rollers shall be 5/8" outside diameter operating over a 7/1611 diameter hardenec pin. Chain shall be of roller type construction for easy servicing, using stainless steel cotter pins. It shall have a minimum tensile strength of 20,,000 pounds. The cross members dhall be spaced on 81t centers and must be minimum of 1/411 - 1" x 1" angle. The conveyor sprockets shall be seven (7) tooth cast steel spaced on approximately 16t, centers. The chain shall move over a replaceable wear plate 3/1611 thick. A chain wiper of flexible belting shall be bolted to discharge end of wear plate to clean cross members. To allow for normal chain gear, a. spring loaded, fully enclosed chain tightener shall be supplied with at least 4F1 of adjustment available. The conveplor drive shall be operated through a fully enclosed and lubricated worm gear type reduction unit. This unifA shall have a 24 to 1 reduction ratio and 5t1 centers on gears. A suitable discharge chute shall be supplied. to direct the flow of materials onto the distributor so that material pattern can be changed to suit spreading needs. Spreads shall vary from 51 on the right to 251 on the left, c by changing the chute, 5' on the left to 25t on the right. Front and rear shafts shall be at least 1-1/4t1 diameter material, DISTRIBUTOR t HMgGED SCREEN I BUMPER - 2 - The material distributor shall be one, 15" diameter spinner rotating in a horizontal plane. It shall be supplied with ei&ht ($) vertical fins of 1/4" steel and the assembly must be statically and dynamically balanced. It shall be driven from the main shaft by a chain drive and right angle gear box. The chain drive must be fully enclosed, with an idler sprocket for adjustment for normal chain wear. The spinner gear box and drive shaft shall be enclose in a formal channel to protect it from the materials being spread. The spinn gear box shall be fully enclosed and libricgted* and shall use machined and hardened helical gears. Self-adjusting bearings shall be used throughout the power train except that tempered roller bearings shall be used in both spinner and conveyor drive gear boxes. Spinner shall mount sirectly on spinner gear box driven shaft. Manually adjustable deflectors shall be appli at both sides of distributor to permit adjustment of spread width. - The distributor shall extend below the truck b6dy floor approximat&ly 24". A fout (4) section screen shall be of 3/8" diameter wire with 2-3/4" square openings welded to an angle frame. Each section shall rotate around a 2-1/2" pipe. Hinges will not be accepted due to rusting conditions. A bumper assembly of at least 4" 13.41 channel shall be supplied to surround the spinner mechanism.
