APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY
Instructions
A. This application must be filled in typewriter OR ink, and submitted in duplicate to the Building
Inspector with the following; for new buildings or new use:
1. Final survey of property with accurate location of all buildings, property lines, streets, and
unusual natural or topographic features.
2. Final approval of Health Dept. of water supply and sewerage disposal--(S-9 form or equal).
3. Approval of electrical installation from Board of Fire Underwriters.
4. Commercial buildings, Industrial buildings, Multiple Residences and similar buildings and
installations, a certificate of Code compliance from the Architect or Engineer responsible for
the building.
5. Submit Planning Board approval of completed site plan requirements where applicable.
B. For existing buildings (prior to April 1957), Non-conforming uses, or buildings and "pre-existing"
land uses:
1. Accurate survey of property showing all property lines, streets, buildings and unusual natural
or topographic features.
2. Sworn statement of owner or previous owner as to use, occupancy and condition of buildings.
3. Date of any housing code or safety inspection of buildings or premises, or other pertinent in-
formation required to prepare a certificate.
C. Fees:

HOUSING CODE INSPECTION

Upon request of L. P. Edson, Attorney, Main Road, Southold,
New York, for a Pre-existing Certificate of Occupancy, I made
an inspection of this one story, partial two story, framed
dwelling. I picked up keys from Edna Ashworth and began
inspection at 11:25 A.M.
The first floor consists of a utility room, kitchen,
two section living room and a bedroom with toilet and sink
fixtures.
Second floor contains three bedrooms and a full bathroom.
Attic over one story section of building used as storage area.
Attic over two story section has a finished room on south end
used as a bedroom.
Heat is furnished to all rooms on first and second floors
from an oil fired steam heat furnace located in full cellar.
Utility room on north end of building is unheated.
Accessory buildings located in rear yard include a one car
garage, workshop, and storage building. Inspection of the
interior of these buildings was not possible since the build-
ings were locked.
The following violations of The Housing Code, Chapter 52,
Town of Southold, were found:
Kitchen - gas cooking range, no shutoff valve at
unit. Article V, Section 52-52 B.2.
Entrances
- east and west to kitchen, west entry to
living room, no means of controlling light
in room on entry. Article V, Section 52-
56 B.2.
Bedroom -
first floor, with toilet room facilities-
no moisture resistant floor covering.
Article II, Section 52-26 A.4.
Bathroom - second floor - floor covering at base of
toilet deteriorating. Article III, Section
52-32 D.
