My grandmother rented the east side for at least 20 years. Since pumhasing the house in 1981, I've rented out both sides at various times. The last tenant in the east apartment left it in such a mess that it was unrentable. I and my family moved into the west apartment and started to clean up and renovate the east apartment. We took down a wall between the two apartments to facilitate finishing the floors. There have always been separate services to the two apartments: electric power systems, heating systems, hot water heaters, and telephone lines. There is a common water supply, a private well with electric pump. The outbuilding along the east property line was used by "Grandma Tuthill" to do some cooking in, and the back part was used as a wood shed. The large outbuilding in the back was built as a carpenter's shop and used as a summer house for friends and relatives in Kathryn's family. They slept upstairs and used the downstairs as their living area. The garage area adjoined it on the east side.
