Upon receipt of an application for a pre-existing Certificate
of Occupancy I made an inspection of this two story framed
dwelling. I picked up key from the North Fork Agency, C.R.
27, Southold, N.Y. and began inspection at approximately
12:45 P.M.
The first floor consists of a living room, dining room and
kitchen. Second floor has three bedrooms and a full bath-
room. Heat is furnished to building from a warm air furnace
located in full cellar. The heat outlet is located in floor
approximately centered in large passage opening in partition
dividing dining room and living room.
The following violations of the Ho~i~ Code, Chapter 52,
Town of Southold, N.Y. were found:
Exterior of building: Several asbestos shingles of siding
are broken and partially missing exposing structural
parts of building. Windows and trim, paint peeling
exposing wood. Art. III, Sec. 52-30 C & Sec. 52-31 B
Front & Rear entrances - no means of controlling light
in room on entry to building. Art. V, Sec. 52-56 B-2
Cellar broken panes of glass in windows on east, south,
and west walls. Outside cellar entry door, base of metal
unit rusting and deteriorating, Art. III, Sec. 52-31 A.
Furnace discharging dust (soot) into rooms and cellar
o-'~ding Art. V, Sec. 52-53 B
Smoke stack connection of furnace to chimney smoke pipe
length is 12'-0 + and is not insulated to prevent cooling
and does not pitch properly to thimble of chimney
connection Art. V, Sec. 52-54 A 2.
(N.Y. State Code requires smoke pipes exceeding 5 feet and
subject to excessive cooling be insulated.)

Instructions
A. This application must be filled in typewriter OR ink, and submitted Jn triplicate to the Building
Inspector with the foHowlng; for new buildings or new use:
1. Final survey of praperh/ with accurate location of all buildings, property Hnes, streets, and
unusual natural or topographic features.
2. Final approval of Health Dept. of water supply and sewerage disposal--~S-9 form or equal).
3. Approval of electrical installation from Board of Fire Underwriters.
4. Commercial buildings, Industrial buildings, Multiple Residences and similar buildings and
installations, a certificate of Code compliance from the Architect or Engineer responsible for
the building.
5. Submit Planning Board approval of completed site plan requirements where applicable.
B. For existing buildings (prior to April 1957), Non-conforming uses, or buildings and "pre-existing"
land uses:
1..Accurate survey of property showing all property lines, streets, buildings and unusual natural
or topographic features.
9. Sworn statement of owner or previous owner as to use, occupancy and condition of buildings.
3. Date of any housing code or safety inspection' of buildings or premises, or other pertinent in-
formation required to prepam a certificate.
