Box 1179 Southold, New York 11971-0959 Fax (631) 765-1823 Telephone (631) 765-1889 OFFICE OF THE SUPERVISOR TOWN OF SOUTHOLD Economic Development Committee (EDC) Meeting Minutes January 15, 2015 Present: Steve Latham, Tony Cocheo, Linton Duell, Carolyn Fahey, John Stype, Councilman Excused/Absent: Bill Ruland and Phillip Beltz. Rona Smith, Donielle Cardinale, Ian Wile and Supervisor Scott Russell. Meeting began at 2:05 p.m. Business Development Workshops: The EDC will partner with Suffolk County Economic Development and Planning along with the Long Island Development Corp. to develop a series of workshops to aid local businesses. The kick-off event will focus on how to grow your viticulture and agriculture business featuring: Augie Ruckdeschel, Farmlands Administrator for SC Economic Development and Planning, Roz Goldmacher, President & CEO of the Long Island Development Corporation, Robert Carpenter, Administrator for the Long Island Farm Bureau and Steven Bate, Executive Director of Long Island Wine Council. Tony Cocheo graciously offered to provide refreshments for the event. Additional workshops will feature commercial fishing and aquaculture, non-profits and entrepreneurs and inventors. North Fork Promotion Council: Phillip reported that Joan Bischoff will remain as president of the North Fork Promotion Council (NFPC) and Gene Gluck is no longer with the organization. Abigail Field is assisting their efforts with strategic planning. NFPC is assisting the Town’s 375 Anniversary committee with the development of a website. NFPC is rebranding to “Go North Fork” as evidenced by their website. Advertisement-North Forker: EDC agreed to run ½ page display ad in the Times News Review Business February business edition (North Forker.) Phillip provided proposed copy. 375 Anniversary: Kick-off cocktail party at Brecknock Hall will commence a series of events for the year. EDC will develop a small business promotional event in September in concert with NFPC. Tony suggested inviting the chair of committee to attend the next EDC meeting to share their strategies and events so the EDC can assist their efforts. Phillip will invite Town Board liaison Bob Ghosio and committee chair, Herb Adler to the next meeting. EDC Membership: Appointments of EDC members expire on March 31, 2015. Kindly let Phillip know if you wish to be considered by Town Board for re-appointment.
