Bredemeyer III, I ,, President e Board of Town Trustees A0?5 Town of Southold 1( P.O. Box 1179 f Southold, NY 11971-0959 RE: South Ramp Refurbishment Silver Eel Cove, Fishers Island, NY Dear Mr. Bredemeyer, Two years ago the Ferry District replaced its North Ramp. Last year it was decided to take a good look at the south ramp which was last replaced in 1992 and serves as the primary ramp for service during the winter months to service the structure and while doing so prepare a life expectancy analysis to prepare for its ultimate replacement. The Ferry District would like to have the Board of the Town of Southold Trustees review the proposed scope of work in order to determine if permitting would be required. Below is a brief summary of the items to be addressed in this project and I have attached some photographs of the facility's current state: 1. South Ramp: remove ramp/platform: a. Blast clean entire ramp/platform, inspect for extensive wastage of ramp plate and structure and renew in kind as needed and after plate renewal apply one coat primer and two finish coats to entire ramp. b. Support Structure: Inspect, repair or renew: remove safety bar and blast or clean, repair wasted corroded steel as needed. After safety bar repair or replacement apply one coat primer and two finish coats to entire safety bar. c. Grease and reinstall both cable sheaves using new galvanized hardware. d. Blast or clean mono-poles, inspect mono-poles and repair wasted/corroded steel as needed and after repair/renewals apply one coat primer to all bare steel and two finish coats. Coatings to be applied from as close as practicable to or below the low tide mark to approx. two feet above the high tide mark. e. Reinstall ramp/plate using appropriately sized galvanized hardware. S 2. Approach Apron. a. Cut out and remove asphalt around the approach apron and behind metal bulkhead, compact existing gravel base adding sand, gravel or stone fill as needed and pour a new concrete approach apron.. 3. Inspect Bulkhead. Thank you in advance for your cooperation in this matter and if you should have any questions, , please do not hesitate to contact RJ Burns, the manager of marine operations (860 442 0165) or me. Sincerely, 0 ioon Murphy, Assistant Manager, business and operations cc. RJ Burns
