It s the intention of the following specifications to describe an Articulate, .' a*oader to be manufactured not earlier than 1980. Loader is to be of rugge( fralne design with triangular shape front. Boom arms, axle and lift cylinders are to be" mounted at the corners for strength. Equipment being bid shall havf been manufactured no earlier than 1980 and shall have no more than 600 origin; hours usage. OVERALL DIMENSIONS The loader must be of compact design having an overall length of not more that 19' 7" with aground clearance of not less than 15. 5 The loader must have a height to the top of the cab to be no more than 10 '4 . 5" . The overall width of the machine to be not less than 8 ' . BUCKET Loader bucket must be general purpose type having an SAE capacity of not less than 2 cubic yard with an overall width of not more than 96" . Cutting edges the bucket lip and side cutting edges must be replaceable, wtihout disturbing the backing plate or cutting away any part of the bucket. Pivot points of th' bucket are to be wrap-around support type. LOADER MECHANISM To be operated by lever control which is located to the right side of the ope. tor. Loader mechanism to have no more than 14 pivot points. All pivot point: and bushings to be equipped with cord ring seals. Pivot point lubrication to be nc more than every fifty hours. Larger diameter pivot points are to be equipped with split cord ring seals. Loader to be equipped with shouldered pin locks. Boom to be operated by two double acting lift cylinders having a bore and str( of 4. 5" x 29" with chromeplated rod, which is to be mounted toward the center of the boom arm. Loader linkage to be lever system complete with bellcrank which pivots in the center. Bucket ram to be one double acting, having a bore and stroke of 5"x20. 5" with the power stroke involving the larger piston area to be used for digging, brei out and lifting. The smaller piston area or return stroke to be used for low( ing and dumping. Both boom lift and bucket dump functions shall be equipped with automatic adj: able kickouts. Kickouts shall operate by the use of air valves piloting air pressure to loader control valve. Operator's eanpartment shall consist of fully enclosed steel cab ecaplete with rollover protective struction (SAE J-394 Code) . Cab windshield to be single flat piece of tinted safety glass with no center molding to block operator's view. Cab to be complete with windshield wipers and washer, front and rear and with bucket type operator's seat,with seat belt. The cab doors are to be full length with piano type hinges and rubber seals. Cab to be equipped with a heater and defroster fan. The unit to be connected to the engine by hoses and a shut-off valve. The valve must be capable of opening to operate the heater and closing when the heater is not in use. Machine shall be equipped with vandalism protection. ENGGIldE Loader is to be equipped with an in line, 6-cylinder naturally-aspirated diesel engine capal of producing not less than 104 net flywheel horsepower at a rated governed RPM of not more than 2,500. Engine oil filters are to be of the spin-on throw-away type. Engine is to be complete with valve guides, valve seat inserts and replaceable cylinder sleeves. Engine must be equipped with an electrical system of not less than 24 volts and a 40 amp alternator A two-stage, dry-type air cleaner is to be located inside the engine compartment. AXLES To be planetary type with power transfer differentials to be supplied as manufacturer's standard and capable of being serviced as a conventional differential. Axles planetary sun gear and axle shaft is to be one piece forged steel for strength. Planetary final drives are to be outboard mounted. Rear axle must be oscillating type ally ing one rear tire to be raised a ninu m of 17.6" higher than the other before the cradle is restricted by the frame. -2- s .. BRAKES Service: Loader to be equipped with manufacturer's standard air-over-hydraulic brakes. Zhe brakes are to consist of two wheel cylinders in each wheel which contain hydraulic fluid which, when activated by air, force the brake shoes against the drums by a wedge-type activator and are to be activated hydraulically. Brakes must be serviced from the back side without removing the tire or wheel and without disturbing the planetary drives. The brake system must service each axle separately assur3-n that an air or hydraulic failure anywhere in the system will effect only one axle. Parking:: Parking is to be air release, spring apply on intermediate drive shaft with indicat light. LIGHTS To consist of 2 headlights, 2 tail-and-stop lights and 2 backup lights. Vendor shall warrant machine under manufacturer' s standard new machine warranty policy for a period of 3 months. Such guarantee shall require the bidder to furnish to the Town, without cost, including transportation, parts to replace parts that have failed under normal use, and said failure found to be attributable to defective material or inferior workmanship. Each bidder must specify and guarantee a delivery date. 11. The bid price shall be F.O.B. Boom to be operated by two double acting lift cylinders having a bore and stroke of 4. 5" x 29" with chropeplated rod, which is to be mounted toward the center of the boom arm. Loader linkage to be lever system complete with bellcrank which pivots in the center . Bucket ram to be one double acting, having a bore and stroke of 5"x20. 5" with the power stroke involving the larger piston area to be used for digging, breakout and lifting. The smaller piston area or return stroke to be used for lowering and dumping. Both boom lift and bucket dump functions shall be equipped with automatic adjustable kickouts. Operator' s compartment must swing away from rear chassis for inspection of transmission, hoses and steering hydraulics. Operator' s compartmentsis to be located away from engine and exhaust . Operator' s compartment shall consist of fully enclosed steel cab complete with rollover protective struction (SAE J-394 Code) . Cab windshield to be single flat piece of tinted safety glass with no center molding to block operator' s view. Loader is to be of rugged frame design with triangular shape front . Boom arms, axle and lift cylinders are to be mounted at the corners for strength. Equipment being bid shall have been manufactured no earlier than 1980 and shall have no more than 600 original hours usage. OVERALL DIMENSIONS The loader must be of compact design having an overall length of not more than 19' 7" with a ground clearance of not less than 15. 5. The loader must have a height to the top of the cab to be no more than 1014. 511 . The overall width of the machine to be not less than 8' . BUCKET Loader bucket must be general purpose type having an SAE capacity of not less than 2 cubic yard with an overall width of not more than 96" . Cutting edges on the bucket lip and side cutting edges must be replacable , without disturbing the backing plate or cutting away any part of the bucket . Pivot points of the bucket are to be wrap-around support type. LOADER MECHANISM, To be operated by lever control which is located to the right side of the operator. Loader mechanism to have no more than 14 pivot points. All pivot points and bushings to be equipped with cord ring seals. Pivot point lubrication to be no more than every fifty hours. Larger diameter pivot points are to be equipped with split cord ring seals. Loader to be equipped with shouldered pin locks. Boom to be operated by two double acting lift cylinders having a bore and stroke of 4. 5" x 29" with chrojneplated rod, which is to be mounted toward the center of the boom arm. Loader linkage to be lever system complete with bellcrank which pivots in the center . Bucket ram to be one double acting, having a bore and stroke of 511x20. 5" with the power stroke involving the larger piston area to be used for digging, breakout and lifting. The smaller piston area or return stroke to be used for lowering and dumping. Both boom lift and bucket dump functions shall be equipped with automatic adjustable kickouts. Kickouts shall operate by the use of air valves piloting air pressure to loader control valve. Boom lift kickout shall automatically cause the control lever to move from the raise or lower position to the hold position, stopping the boom. STEERING To be accomplished by means of steering wheel. Steering to be full hydraulic and complete with mechanical follow-up. Steering to be demand type with flow to reach a desirable level at idle speed and remain constant throughout most of the speed range. Articulation to right or left to be not less than 350 . Turning radius outside bucket to be not less than 17' 4" . HYDRAULIC SYSTEM Hyd. reservoir tank to be mtd. directly above the hyd. pumps and to be located in the air flow of the engine fan and to be equipped with hyd. pressure gauge. The reservoir is to be sealed and pressurized at not less than 30 psi. Reserve is to be located outside mach. , cylindrical in shape, equipped with an oil level sight gauge, and a removable locking top for servicing. The reservoir is to be equipped with a full-flow filtration system comprised of 5 micron filters, and backwash valve and by-pass valve in each filter. OPERATOR' S COMPARTMENT To be located on the front half of the machine, directly over the center hinge pin, and must be capable of viewing the bucket and working area with no obstruction from the cab or loader ' s frame. Operator' s compartment must swing away from rear chassis for . inspection of transmission, hoses and steering hydraulics. Operator' s compartment is to be located away from engine and exhaust . Operator' s compartment shall consist of fully enclosed steel cab complete with rollover protective struction (SAE J-394 Code) . Cab windshield to be single flat piece of tinted safety glass with no center molding to block operator' s view. Cab to be complete with windshield wipers and washer, front and rear and with bucket type operator ' s seat with seat belt. The cab doors are to be full length with piano type hinges and rubber seals. Access and egress from operator's compartment to be made by means of non-skid open ladder steps from both sides of the machine. Operator' s compartment shall be complete with sound suppression and rearview mirror. Operator' s seat shall be suspension type. Instruments to be color coded and are to be located in lighted panel directly in front of operator. Instrument panel must have gauges to be as follows: air pressure, engine oil pressure, engine coolant temperature, fuel, torque converter oil temperature, voltmeter, service meter and transmission and hydraulic pressure gauges. Cab to be equipped with a heater and defroster fan. The unit to be connected to the engine by hoses and shut-off valve. The valve must be capable of opening to operate the heater and closing when the heater is not in use. Machine shall be equipped with vandalism protection. Y Page 3 - Used International 'Model H-60E Articulated Payloader ENGINE Loader is to be equipped with an in line, 6-cylinder naturally- aspirated diesel engine capable of producing not less than 104 net flywheel horsepower at a rated governed RPM of not more than 2, 500. Engine oil filters are to be of the spin-on throw-away type. Engine is to be complete with valve guides, valve seat inserts and replaceable cylinder sleeves. Engine must be equipped with an electrical system of not less than 24 volts and a 40 amp alternator. A two-stage, dry-type air cleaner is to be located inside the engine compartment. Engine to have direct injection for instant-direct electric starting at below freezing temperatures. Engine shall also be equipped with ether starting aid. The fuel tank is to be not less than 50 U. S. gallons. Engine and loader to be of same manufacturer. Fan shall be equipped with guard. TRANSMISSION Transmission must be countershaft type, full powershift in all speed ranges both forward and reverse; reverse speed to be approx- imately 20% faster than forward speed. Transmission must be able to engage smoothly and to withstand the high energies created in full speed, full-RPM shifting. Transmission must be capable of making directional shifts without deceleration or braking. Transmission to be capable of being removed independently of all other drive train components for ease of service. Transmission must be equipped with transmission pressure gauge . AXLES To be planetary type with power transfer differentials to be supplied as manufacturer ' s standard and capable of being serviced as a conventional differential. Axles planetary sun gear and axle shaft is to be one piece forged steel for strength. Planetary final drives are to be outboard mounted. Rear axle must be oscillating type allowing one rear tire to be raised a minimum of 17. 6" higher than the other before the cradle is restricted by the frame . BRAKES Service: Loader to be equipped with manufacturer ' s standard air-over-hydraulic brakes. The brakes are to consist of two wheel cylinders in each wheel which contain hydraulic fluid which, when activated by air , force the brake shoes against the drums by a wedge-type activator and are to be activated hydraulically. Brakes must be serviced from the back side without removing the tire or wheel and without disturbing the planetary drives. The brake system must service each axle separately assuring that an air or hydraulic failure whywhere in the system will effect only one axle. Parking: Parking is to be air release, spring apply on intermediate drive shaft with indicator light. One left-hand and one right-hand dual faced directional lamps; showing amber to the front and red to the rear. TOWN OF ,SOUTHOLD INFORMATION AND INSTRUCTIONS TO BIDDERS FOR HIGHWAY EQUIPMENT 1. It is the intention of these specifications to request bids for the purchase of a used Articulated Payloader (hereafter referred to as "equipment" ) , for the Highway Department of the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York, and to trade-in 10 pieces of used equipment as an off-set against the purchase price of the equipment to be purchased. 2. Bidders are to furnish all items and perform all work not specifically set forth in the specifications, but which is essential to the proper operation of the equipment intended/to be furnished to the Town. 3. Where a particular item of equipment is specified by name, it is the intention of having that particular item supplied, or its equal. 4. Items that are not detailed specifically are left to the discretion of the bidder. 5. Each bidder must furnish details of the complete equipment to be furnished whether or not such detail items are specified herein. 6. Any exceptions to or deviations from the specifications must be specified in writing in detail with reference to the page and section. Any such exceptions or deviations may be considered by the Town Board and accepted if deemed by the Board to be in the best interest of the Town of Southold. 7. Each bidder shall furnish a statement setting forth its service facilities and location thereof. 8 . Each bid must be accompanied with photographs and plans showing dimensions and overall construction of the equipment . 9. The entire equipment including engine, body, chassis, and all component parts shall be guaranteed by the bidder for a period of not less than one (1) year from the date of delivery to and acceptance by the Town of Southold. Such guarantee shall require the bidder to furnish to the Town, without cost, including transportation, parts to replace parts that have failed under normal use, and said failure found to be attributable to defective material or inferior workmanship. The foregoing guarantee shall be in addition to any warranties which may be furnished by the manufacturer and/or supplier of any component assemblies incorporated into the complete equipment . 10. Each bidder must specify and guarantee a delivery date. 11. The bid price shall be F.O.B. This contract has been awarded to the aforesaid Seller who was the f' lowest responsible bidder complying with the specifications determined by receipt of sealed bids received by the Town pursuant to public advertise- ment pursuant to the provisions of Article 5A of the General Municipal Law. The Seller hereby agrees not to assign, transfer, convey or otherwise dispose of this contract or its right , title or interest therein or its power to execute the same to any person or corporation without the previous consent , in writing, of the Purchaser. Risk of loss or damage to said equipment by any cause whatsever until the same is delivered to the Town as hereinbefore provided, shall be upon the Seller, and in the event of any such loss or damage, this contract shall be deemed rescinded. The Seller hereby certifies that there are no Federal or State taxes included in the above purchase price. Any exceptions to or deviations from the specifications must be specified in writing in detail with reference to the page and section. Any such exceptions or deviations may be considered by the Town Board and accepted if deemed by the Board to be in the best interest of the Town of Southold. 7. Each bidder shall furnish a statement setting forth its service facilities and location thereof. 8. Each bid must be accompanied with photographs and plans showing dimensions and overall construction of the equipment . 9. The entire equipment including engine, body, chassis, and all component parts shall be guaranteed by the bidder for a period of not less than one (1) year from the date of delivery to and acceptance by the Town of M Southold. Such guarantee shall require the bidder to furnish to the Town, without cost, including transportation, parts to replace parts that have failed under normal use, and said failure found to be attributable to defective material or inferior workmanship. Loader is to be of rugged frame design with triangular shape front . Boom arms, axle and lift cylinders are to be mounted at the corners for strength. Equipment being bid shall have been manufactured no earlier than 1980 and shall have no more than 600 original hours usage. OVERALL DIMENSIONS The loader must be of compact design having an overall length of not more than 1917" with a ground clearance of not less than 15. 5. The loader must have a height to the top of the cab to be no more than 1014. 511 . The overall width of the machine to be not less than 8 ' . BUCKET Loader bucket must be general purpose type having an SAE capacity of not less than 2 cubic yard with an overall width of not more than 96" . Cutting edges on the bucket lip and side cutting edges must be replacable, without disturbing the backing plate or cutting away any part of the bucket . Pivot points of the bucket are to be wrap-around support type. LOADER MECHANISMS i To be operated by lever control which is located to the right side of the operator . Loader mechanism to have no more than 14 pivot points. All pivot points and bushings to be equipped with cord ring seals. Pivot point lubrication to be no more than every fifty hours. Larger diameter pivot points are to be equipped with split cord ring seals. Loader to be equipped with shouldered pin locks. Boom to be operated by two double acting lift cylinders having a bore and stroke of 4. 5" x 29" with chropeplated rod, which is to be mounted toward the center of the boom arm. Loader linkage to be lever system complete with bellcrank which pivots in the center. Bucket ram to be one double acting, having a bore and stroke of 5"x20. 5" with the power stroke involving the larger piston area to be used for digging, breakout and lifting. The smaller piston area or return stroke to be used for lowering and dumping. Both boom lift and bucket dump functions shall be equipped with automatic adjustable kickouts. Kickouts shall operate by the use of air valves piloting air pressure to loader control valve. Boom lift kickout shall automatically cause the control lever to move from the raise or lower position to the hold position, stopping the boom. STEERING To be accomplished by means of steering wheel. Steering to be full hydraulic and complete with mechanical follow-up. Steering to be demand type with flow to reach a desirable level at idle speed and remain constant throughout most of the speed range. Articulation to right or left to be not less than 350. Turning radius outside bucket to be not less than 1714" . HYDRAULIC SYSTEM Hyd, reservoir tank to be mtd. directly above the hyd. pumps and to be located in the air flow of the engine fan and to be equipped with hyd. pressure gauge. The reservoir is to be sealed and pressurized at not less than 30 psi. Reserve is to be located outside mach. , cylindrical in shape, equipped with an oil level sight gauge, and a removable locking top for servicing. The reservoir is to be equipped with a full-flow filtration system comprised of 5 micron filters, and backwash valve and by-pass valve in each filter. OPERATOR' S COMPARTMENT To be located on the front half of the machine, directly over the center hinge pin, and must be capable of viewing the bucket and working area with no obstruction from the cab or loader ' s frame. Operator' s compartment must swing away from rear chassis for inspection of transmission, hoses and steering hydraulics. Operator' s compartment is to be located away from engine and exhaust . Operator' s compartment shall consist of fully enclosed steel cab complete with rollover protective struction (SAE J-394 Code) . Cab windshield to be single flat piece of tinted safety glass with no center molding to block operator' s view. Cab to be complete with windshield wipers and washer, front and rear and with bucket type operator ' s seat with seat belt. The cab doors are to be full length with piano type hinges and rubber seals. Access and egress from operator' s compartment to be made by means of non-skid open ladder steps from both sides of the machine. Operator's compartment shall be complete with sound suppression and rearview mirror. Operator' s seat shall be suspension type. Instruments to be color coded and are to be located in lighted panel directly in front of operator. Instrument panel must have gauges to be as follows: air pressure, engine oil pressure, engine coolant temperature, fuel, torque converter oil temperature, voltmeter, service meter and transmission and hydraulic pressure gauges. Cab to be equipped with a heater and defroster fan. The unit to be connected to the engine by hoses and shut-off valve. The valve must be capable of opening to operate the heater and closing when the heater is not in use. Machine shall be equipped with vandalism protection. s ' Pae 3 - Used International�. -g t . national Model H-60E Articu�ted Payloader ENGINE Loader is to be equipped with an in line, 6-cylinder naturally- aspirated diesel engine capable of producing not less than 104 net flywheel horsepower at a rated governed RPM of not more than 2 , 500. Engine oil filters are to be of the spin-on throw-away type. Engine is to be complete with valve guides, valve seat inserts and replaceable cylinder sleeves . Engine must be equipped with an electrical system of not less than 24 volts and a 40 amp alternator. A two-stage, dry-type air cleaner is to be located inside the engine compartment. Engine to have direct injection for instant-direct electric starting at below freezing temperatures. Engine shall also be equipped with ether starting aid. The fuel tank is to be not less than 50 U. S. gallons. Engine and loader to be of same manufacturer. Fan shall be equipped with guard. TRANSMISSION Transmission must be countershaft type, full powershift in all speed ranges both forward and reverse; reverse speed to be approx- imately 20% faster than forward speed. Transmission must be able to engage smoothly and to withstand the high energies created in full speed, full-RPM shifting. Transmission must be capable of making directional shifts without deceleration or braking. Transmission to be capable of being removed independently of all other drive train components for ease of service. Transmission must be equipped with transmission pressure gauge . AXLES To be planetary type with power transfer differentials to be supplied as manufacturer ' s standard and capable of being serviced as a conventional differential. Axles planetary sun gear and axle shaft is to be one piece forged steel for strength. Planetary final drives are to be outboard mounted. Rear axle must be oscillating type allowing one rear tire to be raised a minimum of 17. 6" higher than the other before the cradle is restricted by the frame . BRAKES Service: Loader to be equipped with manufacturer' s standard air-over-hydraulic brakes. The brakes are to consist of two wheel cylinders in each wheel which contain hydraulic fluid which, when activated by air , force the brake shoes against the drums by a wedge-type activator and are to be activated hydraulically. Brakes must be serviced from the back side without removing the tire or wheel and without disturbing the planetary drives. The brake system must service each axle separately assuring that an air or hydraulic failure whywhere in the system will effect only one axle. This contract has been awarded to the aforesaid Seller who was the lowest responsible bidder complying with the specifications determined by receipt of sealed bids received by the Town pursuant to public advertise- ment pursuant to the provisions of Article 5A of the General Municipal Law. Notary Public -3- SPECIFICATIONS FOR: USED INTERNATIONAL MODEL H-60E ARTICULATED PAY LOADER It is the intention of the following specifications to describe an Articulated Payloader to be manufactured not earlier than 1980. Loader is to be of rugged frame design with triangular shape front . Boom arms, axle and lift cylinders are to be mounted at the corners for strength. Equipment being bid shall have been manufactured no earlier than 1980 and shall have no more than 600 original hours usage. OVERALL DIMENSIONS The loader must be of compact design having an overall length of not more than 1917" with a ground clearance of not less than 15. 5. The loader must have a height to the top of the cab to be no more than 1014. 511 . The overall width of the machine to be not less than 8' . BUCKET Loader bucket must be general purpose type having an SAE capacity of not less than 2 cubic yard with an overall width of not more than 96" . Cutting edges on the bucket lip and side cutting edges must be replacable, without disturbing the backing plate or cutting away any part of the bucket . Pivot points of the bucket are to be wrap-around support type. LOADER MECHANISM To be operated by lever control which is located to the right side of the operator. Loader mechanism to have no more than 14 pivot points . All pivot points and bushings to be equipped with cord ring seals. Pivot point lubrication to be no more than every fifty hours. Larger diameter pivot points are to be equipped with split cord ring seals. Loader to be equipped with shouldered pin locks. Boom to be operated by two double acting lift cylinders having a bore and stroke of 4. 5" x 29" with chromeplated rod, which is to be mounted toward the center of the boom arm. Loader linkage to be lever system complete with bellcrank which pivots in the center . Bucket ram to be one double acting, having a bore and stroke of 5"x20. 5" with the power stroke involving the larger piston area to be used for digging, breakout and lifting. The smaller piston area or return stroke to be used for lowering and dumping. Both boom lift and bucket dump functions shall be equipped with automatic adjustable kickouts. Kickouts shall operate by the use of air valves piloting air pressure to loader control valve. Boom lift kickout shall automatically cause the control lever to move from the raise or lower position to the hold position, stopping the boom. Boom Control shall have detent positions for raise, lower, hold and float. Bucket control shall have detent positions for rollback, hold and dump. STEERING To be accomplished by means of steering wheel. Steering to be full hydraulic and complete with mechanical follow-up. Steering to be demand type with flow to reach a desirable level at idle speed and remain constant throughout most of the speed range. Articulation to right or left to be not less than 350. Turning radius outside bucket to be not less than 1714" . HYDRAULIC SYSTEM Hyd. reservoir tank to be mtd. directly above the hyd, pumps and to be located in the air flow of the engine fan and to be equipped with hyd. pressure gauge. The reservoir is to be sealed and pressurized at not less than 30 psi. Reserve is to be located outside mach. , cylindrical in shape, equipped with an oil level sight gauge, and a removable locking top for servicing. The reservoir is to be equipped with a full-flow filtration system comprised of 5 micron filters, and backwash valve and by-pass valve in each filter. OPERATOR' S COMPARTMENT To be located on the front half of the machine, directly over the center hinge pin, and must be capable of viewing the bucket and working area with no obstruction from the cab or loader 's frame. Operator' s compartment must swing away from rear chassis for . inspection of transmission, hoses and steering hydraulics. Operator' s compartment is to be located away from engine and exhaust . Operator' s compartment shall consist of fully enclosed steel cab complete with rollover protective struction (SAE J-394 Code) . Cab windshield to be single flat piece of tinted safety glass with no center molding to block operator' s view. Cab to be complete with windshield wipers and washer, front and rear and with bucket type operator' s seat with seat belt. The cab doors are to be full length with piano type hinges and rubber seals. Access and egress from operator's compartment to be made by means of non-skid open ladder steps from both sides of the machine. Operator` s compartment shall be complete with sound suppression and rearview mirror. Operator' s seat shall be suspension type. Instruments to be color coded and are to be located in lighted panel directly in front of operator. Instrument panel must have gauges to be as follows: air pressure, engine oil pressure, engine coolant temperature, fuel , torque converter oil temperature, voltmeter, service meter and transmission and hydraulic pressure gauges. Cab to be equipped with a heater and defroster fan. The unit to be connected to the engine by hoses and shut-off valve. The valve must be capable of opening to operate the heater and closing when the heater is not in use. Machine shall be equipped with vandalism protection. L � •• Page 3 - Used International Model H-60E Articulated Payloader ENGINE Loader is to be equipped with an in line, 6-cylinder naturally- aspirated diesel engine capable of producing not less than 104 net flywheel horsepower at a rated governed RPM of not more than 2 , 500. Engine oil filters are to be of the spin-on throw-away type. Engine is to be complete with valve guides, valve seat inserts and replaceable cylinder sleeves. Engine must be equipped with an electrical system of not less than 24 volts and a 40 amp alternator. A two-stage, dry-type air cleaner is to be located inside the engine compartment. Engine to have direct injection for instant-direct electric starting at below freezing temperatures. Engine shall also be equipped with ether starting aid. The fuel tank is to be not less than 50 U. S. gallons. Engine and loader to be of same manufacturer. Fan shall be equipped with guard. TRANSMISSION Transmission must be countershaft type, full powershift in all speed ranges both forward and reverse; reverse speed to be approx- imately 20% faster than forward speed. Transmission must be able to engage smoothly and to withstand the high energies created in full speed, full-RPM shifting. Transmission must be capable of making directional shifts without deceleration or braking. Transmission to be capable of being removed independently of all other drive train components for ease of service. Transmission must be equipped with transmission pressure gauge . AXLES To be planetary type with power transfer differentials to be supplied as manufacturer ' s standard and capable of being serviced as a conventional differential. Axles planetary sun gear and axle shaft is to be one piece forged steel for strength. Planetary final drives are to be outboard mounted. Rear axle must be oscillating type allowing one rear tire to be raised a minimum of 17. 6" higher than the other before the cradle is restricted by the frame . BRAKES Service: Loader to be equipped with manufacturer ' s standard air-over-hydraulic brakes. The brakes are to consist of two wheel cylinders in each wheel which contain hydraulic fluid which, when activated by air , force the brake shoes against the drums by a wedge-type activator and are to be activated hydraulically. Brakes must be serviced from the back side without removing the tire or wheel and without disturbing the planetary drives. The brake system must service each axle separately assuring that an air or hydraulic failure whywhere in the system will effect only one axle. Parking: Parking is to be air release, spring apply on intermediate drive shaft with indicator light. One left-hand and one right-hand dual faced directional lamps; showing amber to the front and red to the rear. The signal lamps are to be mounted near the center of the machine and are to be visible to both front and rear. The safety flasher must flash both to the left and right lamps simultaneously. Roof mounted revolving flasher to be furnished with machine. Machine to be equipped with a backup alarm.
