HomeMy WebLinkAbout12/10/2014 Town of Southold Housing advisory commisSion MEETING MINUTES MEETING # 100 December 10, 2014 Present: Dan Sarnowski, Fred Andrews, Beth Motschenbacher, LeRoy Heyliger, Michael Excused: Herbert, William Dougherty, Eric Dantes and Phillip Beltz. Jeanne Kelley, Rona Smith, John Vahey and Councilman Jim Dinizio. Meeting began at 5:35 p.m. Approval of Minutes: The minutes of November 12th were approved. North Fork Cottages Update: The Planning Board continues to review the proposed development. First-Time Homebuyer CPF Exemption: Phillip reported that two additional exemptions were offered with a total of four since its inception. Habitat for Humanity: No report. Incentives/Tax Credits for Developing Affordable Apartments: Still awaiting response from Brian Murphy, counsel to Senator Ken Lavalle. Potential Housing Unit via Inclusionary Zoning: A developer of a subdivision application indicated that he will purchase an affordable home somewhere within the Town and sell to a prospective buyer on the Housing Registry as part of his “buyout.” Frank Scarola Proposed Condominium Units in Southold: Mr. Scarola continues to proceed with his application that will yield 24 affordable units. Public Education Forum-What is “Affordable”: Dan provided draft of PowerPoint public forum. Everyone in agreement that it is developing very well, several additional suggestions were made and any additional comments should be forwarded to Dan. The date for the forum is tentatively scheduled for February and there will be discussion with the Town Board in advance of the public meeting that will be facilitated by Dan and Beth. LeRoy reported that his daughter has been unable to contact residents of the Cottages because it is difficult with everyone working. Beth will develop a survey for residents of the Cottages to complete and forward electronically and possibly one of them will volunteer to speak at the forum. Forum content will be finalized at the January meeting. Initiative for the Community Land Trust of Southold: They will have a preliminary discussion with the Town Board to petition a change of zone for Affordable Housing District zoning. - Next Meeting Date:Wednesday, January 21st at The meeting concluded at 6:50 p.m. 5:30 p.m. @ Town Hall meeting room.
