HomeMy WebLinkAbout11/2014 December 08, 2014 To: Town Board Fr: Phillip Beltz Re: NOVEMBER 2014 SUMMARY REPORT-SPECIAL PROJECTS COORDINATOR Housing:  Facilitated Housing Advisory Commission (HAC) meeting and disseminated minutes.  Emailed HAC review and recommendations of the proposed short-term rental legislation.  Discussion with member of Board of Directors of the Initiative for the Community Land Trust of Southold regarding development of affordable housing.  Meeting with prospective developer Frank Scarola regarding proposed condominium units in Southold.  Meeting with prospective developer Bud Koehler regarding AHD buyout and options to relocate affordable units elsewhere in Town.  Review and approval of two applications for the First-time home-buyers exemption of CPF tax.  Meeting with Frank Scarola, Joe Sanseverino, Long Island Housing Partnership (LIHP), Martin Finnegan and Heather Lanza regarding LIHP concerns that Town eligibility criterion could be in violation of Fair Housing laws.  Amended Housing Registry. Youth Bureau:  Facilitated Youth Bureau Board meeting and disseminated the minutes.  Facilitated Youth Advisory Council community service activity of raking leaves for seniors on Sunday afternoon (November 16th.)  Attended East End Partnership for Youth networking meeting in Flanders that included discussion with Suffolk County Youth Bureau director Reverend Roderick Pearson regarding East End regional needs assessment for youth.  Attended quarterly meeting of the Suffolk County Youth Bureau Coordinating Council in Hauppauge. Transcribed meeting minutes.  Attended the Association of New York Youth Bureaus Long Island division meeting in Babylon.  Continued development of “Martin Luther King Day of Service” for January 19, 2015. Meeting with Bob Duffin of Youth Bureau to develop targeted outreach to the community. Discussion with several volunteers and community service organizations regarding the development of prospective projects. Comprehensive Plan:  Review of draft Housing Chapter for upcoming Housing Advisory Commission public meeting on “What is Affordable Housing?” Economic Development:  Meeting with Economic Development Committee (EDC) members Carolyn Fahey and Steve Latham along with Roz Goldmacher, CEO of Long Island Development Corporation, to discuss EDC sponsorship of educational initiatives for small businesses in 2015 for the following industries (wineries and agriculture, commercial fishing, not-for-profits and start-up entrepreneurs.)  Discussion with Joan Bischoff, North Fork Promotion Council regarding their request to Suffolk County for financial support of Southold 375 anniversary. Community Development:  Attended Town Board public hearing regarding solicitation of ideas for allocations of 2015 Community Development Block Grant funding.  Several discussions with Tanya Palmore, North Fork Housing Alliance regarding assistance to resident requiring rehabilitation to mobile home.  Voucher preparation. Executive Safety:  Development of response to recommendations of site visit from HCC Risk that insures Town’s general liability. Other:  Developed Community Notices advertisement for the Suffolk Times.  Attended Department Head meeting.  With Supervisor, participated in conference call with the National EAP regarding the development of a mandatory diversity and cultural awareness training for employees in 2015.  Meeting with Nate Malinowski of Lighthouse Works in Fishers Island regarding potential support from Town and Economic Development Committee for potential National Endowment for the Arts grant application (deferred until later date.)
