We are currently in the www.nature.org process of receiving in-kind donations that will specifically be used for this purpose. The original boardwalk was established in 1986 as part of an Eagle Scout project. (Town Permit # 364). Our intention is to replicate the existing boardwalk using cedar planks, for the boards and railings, and to establish sturdy footings with black locust. The current boardwalk dimensions are approximately 126 feet in length by 3 feet wide which includes a small viewing platform at the west end. No treated or toxic lumber will be used in this project. Our goal is to have this project completed prior the start of spring 2015 but to ideally begin reparations as early as fall 2014. We estimate that the project duration will take anywhere from 3-5 full work days. Pending permitting requirements, we can begin ordering lumber as soon as possible with the potential of completing the project prior to the start of 2015. Unfortunately winter weather is unpredictable and often prevents this type of work from taking place. Thank you for taking the time to review this letter. Please feel free to reach out to me directly with any suggestions or information that will be helpful in moving forward.
