Dear Members of the Board of Trustees,
This request is regarding the land for sale (1.27 acres) on 555 Grand View Drive in Orient. I have the
intention of making an offer to buy the land and, if my bid is accepted, to eventually build a single
house on it.
The land includes (at its very distant end of the property) a small pond, which is marked as an
"irrigation pond" on a survey and construction permit dated 10/20/98. I ask for your advice and
direction of how this acreage, particularly around the pond, should be conserved, so that it continues
to provide a natural habitat for the wildlife around and in it. My plans are to make the site in front of
the pond a "nature preserve". I would, with your permission and advice, clear the invasive species and
vines that strangled some of the native trees and shrubs, remove dead vegetation, as well as create a
narrow path towards the pond.
Your advice on restoring and planting native plants and grasses to enhance the beauty of the land
would be greatly appreciated and welcome.
I come from a family of landscape architects and grew .up under the influence of my father, Lipa
Yahalom, who was a decorated landscaped architect famous for conserving natural habitats while
designing Israel's national parks.
I hope that after reviewing the property with you, I will have a better idea of what is required and the
potential of the land. Since this is a rectangular shaped parcel, the house and its accessories (as well as
a potentially adjacent small swimming pool) would be built at a significant distance from the pond and
the "natural preserve" adjacent to it.
