ARTICLE IV, Exemption for Disabled Persons With Limited Income [Adopted 5-12-. 1998 by L.L. No. 7-1998] § 85-9. Exemption granted. A. Real property owned by a person with disabilities whose income is limited by such disabilities, and used as the legal residence of such person, shall be entitled to a partial exemption from taxation to the extent of 50% of assessed valuation. B. To be eligible for the exemption authorized by such § 459-c and implemented by this article, the maximum income of such person shall not exceed $19,500. COUNCILMAN MOORE: This public notice relates to a Local Law for Exemptions of Disabled Persons of Limited Incomes. We have certain tax exemptions presently. They are in the Code. This simply increases limits pursuant to changes in State Law. "Public Notice is hereby given that there has been presented to the Town Board of the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York, on the 28th day of March, 2000 a Local Law entitled "A Local Law in Relation to Exemption for Disabled Persons with Limited Income" of the Code of the Town of Southold". Notice is further given that the Town Board of the Town of Southold will hold a public hearing on the aforesaid Local Law at the Southold Town Hall, 53095 Main Road, Southold, New York, and hereby sets 5:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 11, 2000 as the time and place for a public heating at which time all interested persons will be heard. This proposed "Local Law in Relation to "Exemption for Disabled Persons with Limited Income" of the Code of the Town of Southold" which reads as follows: A Local Law in Relation to Amending Chapter 85, Section 9, Article IV, entitled "Exemption for Disabled Persons With Limited Income [Adopted 5-12-98 by Local Law No. 7-1998] of the Code of the Town of Southold. SUPERVISOR COCHRAN: Is there anyone that would like to address the Town Board pro or con in relation to the Local Law Exempting Disabled Persons with Limited Income. The Assessors did do some research, and I believe it affects three people in the Town of Southold, but it means a great deal to those three people, so the Town Board agreed that they would go ahead and propose this Local Law. Is there anyone that would like to address the Town Board either pro or con in relation to this Local Law? (No response.) If not, I will close the hearing.
