Chapter 92 (Vehicles g Traffic) of the Code of the Town of Southold is
hereby amended as fellows:
Article !11, Section 92-30 (Stop Intersections with stop signs) is
hereby amended by adding thereto the following:

2. Article i11, Section 92-32 (Yield Intersections) is hereby amended
by deleting the following:

II. Sever-ability. If any section or subsection, paragraph, clause, phrase or
provision, of this law shall be judged invalid or held unconstitutional by any
court of competent jurisdiction, any judgement made thereby shall not affect
the validity of this law as a whole or any part thereof other than the part or
provlsion so adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional.
III. This Local Law shall take effect immediately upon filing with the
Secretary of State.

ON A PROPOSED "LOCAL LAW IN RELATION TO STOP SIGN ON PIKE
STREET".

SUPERVISOR COCHRAN: The second hearing is a "Local Law in Relation to
a Stop Sign on Pike Street.
JUSTICE EVANS: 'mpublic Notice is hereby given that there has been
presented to the Town Board of the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New
York, on the 19th day of January, 1999, a Local Law entitled, 'A Local
Law in Relation to Stop Sign on Pike Street", Chapter 92 of the Town Code
of the Town of Southold. Notice is further given that the Town Board of
the Town of Southold will hold a public hearing on the aforesaid Local
Law at the Southold Town Hall, 53095 Main Road, Southold, New York, and
hereby sets 8:05 P.M., Tuesday, February 2, 1999 as the time and place
for a public hearing on this Local Law, which reads as follows:
A Local Law in Relation to Stop Sign on Pike Street
BE IT ENACTED, by the Town Board of the Town of Southold as follows:
I. Chapter 92 (Vehicles & Traffic) of the Code of the Town of Southold is
hereby amended as follows:
1. Article III, Section 92-30 (Stop Intersections with stop signs) is
hereby amended by adding thereto the following:
Direction At Inter- Location
Stop Sign On of travel section with (hamlet)
Pike Street westerly Westphalia Avenue Mattituck
2. Article III, Section 92-32 (Yield Intersections) is hereby amended
by deleting the following:
Direction At Inter- Location
Yield Signs on of travel section with (hamlet)

or provision of this law shall be judged invalid or held unconstitutional by
any court of competent jurisdiction, any judgement made thereby shall not
affect the validity of this law as a whole or any part thereof other than
the part or provision so adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional.
III. This Local Law shall take effect immediately upon filing with the
Secretary of State. Copies of this Local Law shall take effect immediately
upon filing with the Secretary of State of State. Copies of this Local Law
are available in the Office o:f the Town Clerk to any interested persons
during regular business hours. By order or the SoUthold Town Board of
the Town of Southold, New York. Dated: January 26, 1999. Elizabeth A.
Neville." We have notification that it was published in The
Traveler-Watchman, and posted on the Town Clerk's Bulleting Board, and
there is no correspondence.
SUPERVISOR COCHRAN: Thank you, Louisa. Anyone like to address the
Town Board on the stop sign on Pike Street in Mattituck?
JOHN DIVELLO: John Divello from Mattituck. On my way home I come
to that yield sign every night. I have never heard of any accidents at that
intersection, and I am not against it, but I don't see why you need it.
SUPERVISOR COCHRAN: I don't know who this was recommended by, the
Highway Superintendent? I think there has been a request by the
residents in the area. It was presented to us by the Superintendent of
Highway Ray Jacobs, so he must have had a request. Thank you, John.
Anyone else like to address the Town Board in relation to the stop sign?
(No response) If not, we will close the hearing.
