HomeMy WebLinkAboutTR-08/05/1974131 MINUTES BOARD OF SOUTHOLD TOWI~ TRUSTEES Meeting of August 5, 1974 A regular meeting of the Board of Southold Town Trustees was held at 7:30 P.M., Monday, August 5, 1974 at the Town Board meeting room, 16 South Street, Greenport, New York, with the following present: Alvah B. Goldsmith, Chairman Philip G. Horton Frederick E. Gordon George Bird Absent: DQ~glas M. Robertson Also present: Loretta Hess, Orville Terry, Ruth Oliva On motion of Mr. Gordon, seconded by Mr. Horton, it was RESOLVED that Miriam B. Conant and Francis P. Conant, Inlet Lane Extension, Greenport, New York be granted permission to place two offshore moorings in front of their own property in Gull Pond, on Inlet Lane Extension, Greenport, all in accordance with the detailed specifications as presented in the originating application. Stephan, Oak Avenue, Southold, New York be granted permission to place an offshore-onshore stake in Goose Bay, in front of his own property on Oak Avenue, Stake ~23 on Goose Bay Property Owners Map, all in accordance with the detailed specifications as presented in the originating application. ~ Fee $5.001 Vote of the Board: Ayes: . Lundin, 2490 Pine Neck Road, Southold, New York be granted-permission to loeag~ an offshore-onshore mooring at ~o~yC~me~ at the foot of Pine Neck Road, Southold, New York, all in accordance with the detailed specifications as presented in the originating application. Fee $5.00. King, Orient, New~Yo~k..' The exa¢.t..location was not indiciated. The Board will investigate the site. On motion of Mr. Horton, seconded by Mr. Gordon, it was RESOLVED that George McFadden, Pine Neck Road, Southold, New York be granted permission to place an offshore mushroom mooring in Jockey Creek in front of the property of Max W. Newbold, with his permission, off Pine Neck Road, Southold, all in accordance with the detailed specifications as presented in the originating application. Fee $5.~00. ~ . Vote of the Board: Ayes: Mr. Goldm~ith, Mr. Horton, Mr. Gordon, Mr. Bird. An application for an offshore mushroom mooring in Jockey Creek was received from Hallock N. Young, A-70 Reeves Park, Riverhead, New York. The Board will investigate the site. On motion of Mr. Horton, seconded by Mr. Gordon, it was RESOLVED that James Thomas Dubovic, Moose Trail, .Cutchogue, New York be granted permission to place an offshore stake in East Creek at the foot of Wilson Landing Road, Cutchogue, all in accordance with the detailed specifications as presented in the originating application. Fee $5.00. Vote of the Board: Ayes: Mr. Goldsmith, Mr. Horton, Mr. Gordon, Mr. Bird. Mr. Walter R. Kohnle, President of the Wickham Park Taxpayers Association appeared before the Board to discuss what steps can be taken to remove oldd and rusting automobiles from the west beach at Conklin Point, Greenport. He stated the automobiles have contributed to the pollution of the creek, aesthetically and otherwise, and their existence prevents the use of boats into Southo~d Bay and the Shelter Island Narrows. Mr. Kohnle presented a petition whikh had been submitted to the Southold Town Board on June 8, 1974, and a copy of findings by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation in~ the matter of the application of the Suffolk County Department of Public Works to dredge a channel approximately 700 ft. long by 25 ft. wide and 5 ft~ below MLW and place the dredged material on an adjacent beach at the southeastern section of Conklin Point (east channel). This petition was denied. Mr. Kohnle was advised that ~inasmuch.as the-problem is on Peconic Bay it is out of the Trustees' jurisdiction, however, they will investigate the site and determine if they can be of any help in solving the problem. On motion of Mr. Horton, seconded by Mr. Bird, it was RESOLVED that the July 15, 1~74 minutes Qf the Board of S~uthold Town Trustees be approved as submitted. Vote of the Board: Ayes: Mr. Goldsmith, Mr. Horton, Mr. Gordon, Mr. Bird. 133 On motion of Mr. Gordon, seconded by Mr. Horton, it was RESOLVED that the next meeting of the Board of Southold Town Trustees will be held at 7:30 P.M., Tuesday, September 10, 1974 at the Town Board meeting room, 16 South Street,'~Greenport,~'New York. Vote of the Board: Ayes: Mr. Goldsmith, Mr. Horton, Mr. Gordon, Mr. Bird. EXECUTIVE SESSION Wi~i$~it~liam Wickham~ Esq. and Richard Lark, Esq., representing Leander Glover Jr. appeared before the Board to discuss the action of the ~leet.'s Neck Property Owners Association, Inc. agains~t-the Board of Town Trustees of the Town of Southold and Leander Glover Jr.,to determine ownership and rights of respective parties in and to certain property at Fleets Neck, Cutchogue. The property i~ described as follows: Northerly partly by .East Road and partly by the waters of Eugene Creek; easterl by Eugene Creek; southerly by Little Peconic Bay; and westerly by other land of the parties of the first part, formerly of Norma H. Fleet Beattie. tt is felt by Mr. Wickham and M~. Lark that part of the property in question belongs to the Town Trustees. After considerable discussion Mr. Goldsmith advised he would take the matter up with the Town Attorney and be in touch with Mr. Wickham and Mr. Lark. Meeting adjourned at 9:30 P.M. ~J6dith T.
