HomeMy WebLinkAboutTR-03/04/1974113 MINUTES BOARD OF SOUTHOLD TOWN ~TRUSTEES Meeting of March 4., 1974 A regular meeting of the Board of Southold Town Trustees was held at 7:30 P.M., Monday, March 4, 1974 at the Town Board meeting, room, 16 South Street, Greenport, New York, with the following present: AIvah B. Goldsmith, Chairman Douglas M. Robertson Philip G. Horton Frederick E. Gordon George Bird Judith T. Boken, Secretary Also present: Sherley Katz, ~epresenting the Long Island TraVeler- Mattituck Watchman; Evelyn .Gordon, representing the North Fork TaxW payers Association; Loraine Terry and Orville Terry. Mr. Evert S. Bergen appeared to represent himself on applications for a wetland permit and permzssion to construct a floating dock at his property on East or Eugene Creek, Cutchogue~ New York. The Board discussed Mr. Bergen's applications with him, and determined that the edge of the float will be approximately 60 ft. from the channel, and-~here is similar construction to the horth and South of him. On motion of Mr. Horton, seconded by Mr. Robertson, it was RESOLVED that the Board of. Southold~Towh Trustees recommends the approval of Wetland Application No. 14 by Evert S. Bergen, for permission to build an open dock across the meadow at his property on Beebe Drive, Cutchogue, New York. This type of open construction has been urged by the Town Trustees ~n the past, prior to the passage of the Wetland Ordinance. It~a%loWs for the~rise, and fill of tide and will in no way interfere with the ecology of the area. -- .. Vote of the Board: Ayes: Mr. Goldsmith, Mr. Robertson, Mr. Horton, Mr. Gordon, Mr. Bird. On motion of Mr. Hoc%on, s~c~nd~d, by Mr. Robertson, it was RESOLVED that Egert M.'-Bergeh, 1630 Beebe Drive, Cutchogue, New York, be granted permisszon to place a floating dock 8 ft. by 12 ft. and ramp 3 ft. by 22 ft., with two pilings, in East or Eugene Cree~ 114 in front of his property on Beebe Drive, all in accordance with the detailed specifications as presented in the originating application. Fee $18.20. Vote of the Board: Ayes: Mr. Goldsmith, Mr. ~bbertson,Mr. Horton Mr. Gordon, Mr~ '~ird. Mr. Pat Carrig appeared before the Board to advise them that Dr. Louis T. Verderse proposes to build a bulkhead on his own property, 5 to 8 ft. above the property line and behind the wetlands, and fill behind same, at H~¥waters Drive~a~d~i~sgneQrive, ~c~og~e, New York. The Board studied the survey of the property, and being familiar ~with the prope~e~, waived jurisdiction in this ma~ter ..... Mr. Carrig inquired as to the action of the Board on the applica- tion of David Ackerman,-Rochelle Place, James Creek, Mattituck, New York. The Board had investigat~ed the site after receiving the application at their February meeting and concurred that the construction should be approved. On motion of Mr. Horton, seconded by Mr. Bird, it was RESOLVED that David Ackerman, 495 Rochelle Place, Mattituck, New York.be granted permission~to-.cons%ruct a patio deck over his bulkhead at James Creek,~ ~o~tion of deck extending over the bulkhead is 6 f%t. by 24 ft., all in accordance with the detailed specifications as presented in the originating application. Fee-$14.40.- Vote of the Board: Ayes: Mr. Goldsmith, Mr. Robertson .. Mr. Horton~, 'Mr. Gordon, Mr.' ~ird. On motion of Mr. Robertson, seconded by Mr. Gordon, it was RESOLVED that Joseph Si Zimnoski, Breakwater'Road~ ~Mattituck, New York, be granted permission to place and onshore-effshore mooring in Mattituck Creek, near Route 27A, Mattituck, New York, all in accordance with the detailed specifications as presented in the originating appt~ication. Renewal Date: Novembe~ 1, 197~. Fee $5.00. ~- Vote of the Board: Ayes: Mr. Goldsmit~h, Mr. Robertson, Mr. H-orton~ ~r. Gordon, Mr-. ~ird. ~- On motion of Mr. Robertson, seconded .by Mr. Gordon, it was RESOLVED ~hat ~oseph M. Gold, 250 Park. Avenue, Freeport, New Y'®rk and Corey Creek Drive, off Main Bayview Road, Sou%hold, ~New York, be granted permission to place two offshore stakes in Corey Creek, at the foot of Corey Creek Drive, Southold, New York, all in accordance wi-th the detailed specifications as.presented in the originating application. Renewal Date: November 1~ 1974. Fee $5.00. Vote of the Board: Ayes: Mr. Goldsmith, Mr. Robertson, Mr. Herren, Mr. Gordon, Mr. Bird. 115 Mr. Goldsmith read a letter (on file in the Trustee's office) from Mr. Paul Chanley, Marine Biologist, detailing various reasons for favorable consideration of a proposed oyster seeding and cultivating experiment in Mattituck Creek ..... -~ . On motion of Mr. Gordon, seconded by Mr. Horton, it was RESOLVED that the Board of Southold Town Trustees' minutes of February 11, 1974 be approved as submitted. Vote of the Board: Ayes: Mr. Goldsmith, Mr. Robertson, Mr. Horton, Mr. Gordon, Mr. Bird. On-motion of Mr. Horton, seconded by Mr. Robertson, it was RESOLVED that the next meeting of the Board of Southold Town Trustees will be held at 7:30 P.M., Monday,~April 1~ 1974 at the Town Board' meeting room, 16 South Street~ Greenport~ New York.
