It shall be possible to adjust cycle and paint lengths while the vehicle is in motion. Timer must operate on 12 volts DC without the use of power invertors. By means of solid state circuitry only, it shall be possible to continuously advance or retard the total cycle for accurate retracing of old intermittent lines. An additional circuit shall automatically return the system to a reset condition immediately upon discontinuing the painting of an inter- mittent line pattern while the paint machine is in motion or at reset. The reset condition shall be indicated by a light marked "reset" on the control box or boxes. Continuously variable time delays shall be provided to allow for synchroni- zation of paint and beads. , The paint and beads outputs shall all be turned off (de-energized) when the timer is externally placed in the "reset" state, but the cycle shall start with the turn-on (energizing) of the beads and delayed paint outputs when placed in the paint turn-off at the end of a painted line. A logic level pulsing unit shall be provided and driven by a pneumatic road wheel , to yield a pulse every 1/10 of a foot (3 cm) without the use of Vee-belts or variable pitch pulleys. The entire pulse assembly shall be attached to the vehicle in front of the rear wheels. A safety chain shall be provided to lock the skipline assembly in the raised position. 7.7 DIGITAL SPEED METER: A digital speed meter shall be included on the striping unit that will allow the machine operator to read his speed in three digits.
