We have made plans to address the issues for the Pour the Core cider festival on Saturday October 4th. We will put up the snow fence to keep participants from using Stillwater Avenue, the private road south of the vineyard. We will also move the layout of the festival closer to vines which keep any vehicles from being over there. We will also change the parking so that there are no cars in the area of Stillwater Avenue. Before we even received your feedback we had planned bring in a water truck to keep the dust down from vehicles exiting the site on the eastern portion of the property affecting the neighborhood along Harbor Lane. We will also water the path between the vines that the cars drive down. We will also put water down where'the cars are parrk—ing-if"the Feld is ry. a wHIpdflie wa er'down on 1=ridaythe day' -'-before the event and on Saturday morning to keep the dust down. (Credit., Cyn&Murray, tile) The Southold Town Board has approved a special events permit for next month's "Pour the Core" hard cider festival in Cutchogue, but attached stipulations in an effort to address residents' complaints over the organizer's previous events. The Town Board voted 4-2 in favor of issuing the permit at its regular meeting Tuesday night, with Supervisor Scott Russell and Councilman Bill Ruland voting in opposition. Pour the Core is scheduled for Oct. 4 and is organized by Starfish Junction, a Bay Shore for-profit company. The event is in its third year and is held in the field behind the now defunct Peconic Bay Winery facility in Cutchogue. Earlier this year, Starfish Junction held two other events requiring special events permits: North Fork Craft Beer Festival and North Fork Potato Festival. During those events, residents complained about traffic and the amount of dust kicked up from the parking fields, Mr. Russell said. In an effort to address those issues, the Town Board approved Starfish Junction's special event permit for Pour the Core with some stipulations, including: banning traffic from turning on Stillwater Avenue; having a water truck on site to mitigate any dust; and coordinating with traffic Subscribe f =V http://suffolktimes.timesreview.com/2014/09/51928/town-approves-permit-for-pour-the-co... 9/10/2014 land preserved through the sale of development rights to the county of Suffolk with a permit issued by the Suffolk County Farmland Committee. We will also put water down where the cars are parking if the field is dry. We will put the water down on Friday the day before the event and on Saturday morning to keep the dust down. We look forward to working with you again for our upcoming event. Please let me know if you require any further assistance from us. (Credit. Cyndi Murray; file) The Southold Town Board has approved a special events permit for next month's "Pour the Core" hard cider festival in Cutchogue, but attached stipulations in an effort to address residents' complaints over the organizer's previous events. The Town Board voted y -i in favor of issuing the permit at its regular meeting Tuesday night, with Supervisor Scott Russell and Councilman Bill Ruland voting in opposition. Pour the Core is scheduled for Oct. q and is organized by Starfish Junction, a Bay Shore for-profit company. In an effort to address those issues, the Town Board approved Starfish Junction's special event permit for Pour the Core with some stipulations, including: banning traffic from turning on Stillwater Avenue; having a water truck on site to mitigate any dust; and coordinating with traffic Page 1 of 4 Subscribe http: //suffolktimes.timesreview.com/2014/09/51928/town-approves-permit-for-pour-the-co... 9/10/2014 Town approves permit for 'Pour the Core'— with stipulations I Suffolk Times control to direct cars. While a portion of proceeds from Pour the Core go toward Alzheimer's research through the charity Beers for Brains Foundation in Phoenix, Ariz., some Town Board members said they believed the event is in violation of a policy passed last year that bans all for-profit events and limits non-profit events. "I don't think that it fits with the spirit of the law," Mr. Russell said. "This looks like nothing more than a venue on a vacant field. I don't think the special. events legislation is meant for something like this." Mr. Russell added most of the products offered at Pour the Core aren't locally produced. Councilman Bob Ghosio said he's in favor of the event because it promotes the agricultural industry and includes local hard cider maker Woodside Orchard in Aquebogue. "1 don't see this event as out of character for our area," he said. cmurray@timesreview.coin Pour the Core, southold town board, special events law < Previous Post Next Post > Sept. 11 memorial service in Peconic Paula Thorp, every inch an Italian, Thursday chosen as grand marshal for Saturday's Cutchogue parade Sirniliar Articles •wore untofte" North Fork Roundup: Plum Island, Greenport' = audit and more by The Suffolk Times 09/09/147:00pm Single stream recycling comes to Southold Town by Cyndi Murray 09/09/142:00pm Field Hockey: Clippers are young and experienced by Bob Liepa 09109/1412:00pm Page 2 of 4 Suffolk Times Newsletter Sign Up northforker Lombardi's Market at Love Lane to open Wednesday Give Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Two wine and comedy nights at North Fork vineyards Eli Laugh http://suffolktimes.timesreview.coml20l4/09/51928/town-approves-permit-for-pour-the-co... 9/10/2014 Mtt A-VUL N.VC Z040.1v M..lMs to O.Iffn iv g A 67 1 Y .57m k, All, A Kv A "; ! . 3A, 'k- lV.AA F X4 145 iFr.4 q mR ir tt lihl* T-1 .1 ilk T ME r"'JJU3 jw oull. i7Z ffvlf ;,W i; Fw_ I !1V AL -1 tv-" Peconic Bay Winery \ X014 31320 Main Rd. J J ° 9 Cutchogue, NY 11935 Starfish unction OCT productions 30x40 30x40 20x30 Key: El Tent Company Parking 30x40 wa?D RECEIVED AUG 13 2014 ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS 20x30 Pour The Core: A Hard Cider Festival I Hard Cider I Cider Festival Page 1 of 2 INFO BUY TICKETS CIDER & MORE SEMINARS CHARITY VOLUNTEER STORE PHOTOS CONTACT 11 1 Full Name Emall Submit eqaalwi Ai RECEIVED AUG 13 2014 ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS r Love apples? We have made plans to address the issues for the Pour the Core cider festival on Saturday October 4cn We will put up the snow fence to keep participants from using Stillwater Avenue, the private road south of the vineyard. We will also put water down where the cars are parking if the field is dry. We will put the water down on Friday the day before the event and on Saturday morning to keep the dust down. We look forward to working with you again for our upcoming event. We have made plans to address the issues for the Pour the Core cider festival on Saturday October 4th We will put up the snow fence to keep participants from using Stillwater Avenue, the private road south of the vineyard. We will also put water down where the cars are parking if the field is dry. We will put the water down on Friday the day before the event and on Saturday morning to keep the dust down. We look forward to working with you again for our upcoming event. Please let me know if you require any further assistance from us.
