I have here an affidavit of posting on the Town Clerk's bulletin board and I have an affidavit of publication in the Suffolk Times newspaper for this public hearing and that is it. SUPERVISOR RUSSELL: I would invite anybody that would like to address the Town Board on this particular local law to please feel free? COUNCILMAN RULAND: Please. Well, I guess I have lived in Mattituck a long time and what we are seeing is growing pains probably more than anything. we have gone from a very small, underutilized hamlet to a much invigorated very used hamlet with more people and more cars. In light of recent developments, having made several visits to the site, I can't see that we can come up with a better situation that is safe. The street just isn't wide enough to allow parking and traffic to pass at the same time and someone either is going to get hurt or some vehicle or car is going to get damaged. And that is certainly not what we want. I am certainly not one that wants to impose additional restrictions because the business people there are somewhat against it anyhow because parking is at a premium but at the same time, I think that Pike Street Parking Restrictions Public Hearing June 17, 2014 3 having it defined will let people know where they can and where they can't whereas now there are some sections that aren't marked so people say they can when they really shouldn't and probably now it is going to say they can't and the rest will be up to traffic control.
