Re: JULY 2014 SUMMARY REPORT-SPECIAL PROJECTS COORDINATOR
Housing:
Facilitated Housing Advisory Commission (HAC) meeting and disseminated
minutes. Additional meeting with several HAC members to prepare for
meeting with Town Board.
Attended Habitat for Humanity demolition event. Coordinating meeting for
Southold residents to learn of volunteer opportunities for development of site.
Meeting with two housing registry candidates to vet applications and provide
additional county and state resources.
Continue to respond to queries regarding CPF exemption for first-time
homebuyers. On behalf of Supervisor, sent letter to Governor Cuomo
requesting his assistance to sign law.
With several HAC members, meeting with Town Board to discuss direction for
development of affordable housing. Also discussed proposed sales, rental
and inclusionary zoning buyout figures for 2014.
Edited housing applications and registry instructions to reflect 2014 sales,
income and rental amounts adopted by Town Board.
Attended Code Committee meeting regarding proposed changes to
Affordable Housing District.
Youth Bureau:
Facilitated Youth Bureau Board meeting and disseminated minutes.
Facilitated “North Fork Ospreys Youth Bureau Night” event with free popcorn.
With Southampton and Riverhead Youth Bureau directors and aides of
Legislators Krupski and Schneiderman, meeting with Suffolk County Youth
Bureau director and the Human Services Committee of Suffolk County
Legislature to discuss East End Youth Needs Assessment report.
Meeting with Suffolk County Youth Bureau director to discuss 2014 budget
allocations.
Provided orientation to five students for Suffolk County Dept. of Labor
Summer Works program.
Attended Suffolk County Youth and Justice sub-committee meeting regarding
a re-entry initiative hosted by Sheriff DiMarco and Judge Camacho.
Attended East End Partnership for Youth committee. Submitted grant to
Bridgehampton National Bank that was awarded $500 to be utilized towards
expenses for October Youth Leadership Summit.
Comprehensive Plan:
Voucher preparation for Hamlet 1 Grant for development of Comprehensive
Plan: Human Services chapter 58.5 hours and Housing chapter 60.75 hours.
Economic Development:
Meeting with Joan Bischoff of North Fork Promotion Council regarding
development of initiatives for 375 anniversary celebration to benefit local
businesses. Additional meeting with Carolyn Fahey to discuss funding
opportunities from Suffolk County to support 375 events.
With Joan Bischoff, meeting with Micah Schlendorf, Hamptons Visitors
Council and Southampton Chamber of Commerce to discuss collaboration of
Southampton and Southold in celebration of their 375 anniversaries and
strengthened ability to obtain funding to support collaboration.
Discussion with Mary Ann Krupski regarding closing of Mattituck Farmers
Market due to lack of public support and ability to attract vendors.
Facilitated meeting for development of Fishers Island Arts Consortium in New
London with Justice Evans, Suffolk County (Carolyn Fahey and Michelle
Stark), East End Arts, Lighthouse Works, Ferguson Museum and Friends of
Fishers Island Theatre. Continued discussion of developing arts district and
access to funding sources.
Follow-up with Jim Bunchuck to provide update for paper shredding for local
businesses. Jim requested EDC develop a survey to assess what the
shredding needs are of business community.
Community Development:
Review and notice of North Fork Housing Alliance availability of handicapped
accessible apartments.
Voucher preparation.
Executive Safety:
Continued facilitation of mandatory training for employees in August and
arranged for video to be produced by Allen video for those unable to attend.
Other:
Responded to one citizen request on Town website regarding assessment
and/or removal of tree, referred to Highway.
Prepared 2015 budgets.
Facilitated public forum on plastic bag discussion.
Development of public forum on helicopter noise.
Developed Community Notices advertisement for the Suffolk Times.
With Supervisor, meeting with National EAP for proposed “cultural
competence” training for staff in January 2015.
