HomeMy WebLinkAboutTR-04/27/1964MEETING OF APRIL 27, 1964. A regular monthly meeting of the Southold Town Trustees was called to order at 1:30 P.M. by Alvah B. Goldsmith, at the Town Clerk Office, Southold, N.Y. on April 27, 1964. Present: Alvah B. Goldsmith Frank Dawson John McNulty George Simpson Marion Regent, Sec. ******(See following page) The following resolution was unanimously adopted by the Town Trustees: WHEREAS, our friend and fellow official, EMMONS DEAN, has been called from his earthly activit~es, and WHEREAS, by ~is passing this board has lost an esteemed and efficient presiding officer as President of the Southold Town Trustees, having been elected to the Trustees in November, 1937, and the members of this Board have been deprived of his wise counsel and j~dgment, and the members of this Board have lost a faithful friend and associate, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that this Board express its sense of loss and its sympathy to the bereaved family and that a copy be spread upon Our minutes and a copy be sent to the bereaved family, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that when the Board of Trustees adjourns this day, it 4o so out of respect to the memory of Town Trustee Emmons C. Dean. A large delegation of residents and property owners on Jockey Creek was again present at~this meeting to protest the application of Hoseph Ulrich to widen the creek, continue dock and bulkhead the shore line. The people owning property on Jockey Creek have formed an Association and made it very clear that they are opposed to a permit for expansion of this area for commercial use. Opinions were heard from those present and all were very much opposed to the issuance of this permit. The Trustees discussed this project at great length after visiting the area and decided to reserve decision until May 25th when Mr. Ulrich will have a Surveyor's Map of the present and proposed plans. Permits which were issued by the Trustees in March were signed by the Trustees. Application of Gerald and Margaret Peffert to dredge 300 feet in front of their property on Jockey Creek was approved. Fee $4.00. Application of Joseph D. Haeg to erect a dock along prolongation of center line of private road o~ James Creek, Salt Lake V~llage, Mattituck, was discuesed. Since a letter was received from William Wickham,attorney for Mr. C.B.S. Mart and Julius W. Helbing of Salt Lake village, objecting to the Board giving a permit to any persons to erect a dock or pier off the end of Rochelle Place, a right of way, the fee of which is owned by Mr. Mart, it was suggested that Mr. Haeg submit a letter from Mt.Mart showing that he has no objection to this dock before this application can be acted upon. M~ETING OF APRIL 27, 1964, continued A~ application of Saundra E. Shipman to dredge creek and install bulkhead in front of her property on Wunneweta Pond, Nassau Point, Cutchogue, was approved. Bulkheading-$t2.50, Dredging-S10.40, Total Fee $22.90. Application of Fuller H. Heath of Fisherman's Beach, Nassau Point, Cutchogue, to build a floating dock 24'x4' in Haywaters Cove was approved.
