A meeting of the Southold Town Trustees was held in the Southold
Town Clerk's Office at ~ P.M. on September 2~, 19~7.

Minutes of last meeting read for information.
Mr. Tom Daly~ Jr. and Mr. Hoey appeared before the Board of Truwtees
in connection wl~n ~ne application to dredge a channel into the Bay
between their property and that of Beixedon Estates. The Board
called Mr. & Mrs. G. Nickles to get their reaction to the proposed
dredging. They came before the Board and objected to any permit
being issued until the boundaries between the properties should
be settled by the principals. The Board ~oted to lay the application
on the table until such agreement was reached and an application
suitable to all concerned was submitted.
The application of Mr. S. Roy French for permission to dredge in
front of his property on Haywater Cove was read and discussed. It
was voted to grant the application for a fee of $10.00.
The application of Wm. Hillman for permission to dredge a basin
in his own property abutting the existing channel near 01eJule
Lane, Mattituck. was discussed. The application was granted, the
fee ~o be $10.06,
An application from Stephen E, Campbell for permission to erect a
dock 3 feet wide and 20 feet long in front of his property as
shown on attached sketch was discussed. The application was
granted for a fee of $10oO0.
The complaints of Mrs, John D, Hallock about the abuses by various
persons of the lands and lands under water at Laughing Waters at
the West Lane of Minnehaha Blvd. were considered.Mr. Howard Terry
reported the channel completely blocked by, rowboats staked off the
end of the road and on both sides of the road9 a stake or stakes
in the center of the channel with four boats tied to it and a like
on the southerly side of the channel which completed the blocking
off of the channel to any boats. The Board voted to advise the Town
Board of this situation and to z~qu~st the Supervisor to have the
Town Police enforce the removal of the off&nders from the area so
that an unobstructed channel is constantly maintained- and access
to the water from the road be not monopolized by any individuals.
The Board further requests that suitable signs be erected in the
area warning against the blocking of the channels and access thereto.
