Application of Versal Estates; Paul Cer~to ann]~m-nt, for permiss-
ion to erect a ~ock on the ~recged char[flel ih-Howard Creek, Mattituck,
10 feet wide and 20 feet long was read. This application was referred
to Mr. John McNulty to determine if it would interfere with the
navigation on this creek before any action was taken.
Letter of Mr. George T. Witenko requesting permission to fill in
the stagnant pond in front of his property on Bay Road, east of
the Breakwater, was read. The Board decided to visit the location
before taking any action and adjourned to the site of the proposed
work for further consideration of the request. It was found that
this location was the same as that which the Board considered thru
the application of Mr. Michael Capuano of Greenport, on May 11, 19~5.
This application for dredging this same area had to be cancelled
after strenuous objections were raised by other property owners
whose lands would have been affected by the proposed work. The zk
objections were considered and the request denied because it was
claimed that the then existing bar of sand on the opposite side of
the proposed chsnnel did not belong to the applicant and the adjoin-
ing property owners would not consent to the dredging.
For these reasons it was unanimously voted that the application of
Mr. Witenko cannot be favorabl~ considered by the Board of Trustees
unless all parties whose properties adjoin the channel for its
entire length on both sides give written consent to the mouth of
the channel being further filled in and permanentl~ closed by
reason of the proposed action by Mr. Witenko.
