A special meeting of Town Trustees of Town of Southold was called
to order at 4 P.M. on August l~ 1956 atlthe Southold Town Clerk's
Office by President Emmons Dean.

A request for s grant of land under water was received from Oscar
B. Gunther together with a map showing the outline and boundaries
o~e proposed grant. The Board decided to examine this property
before taking any action~ particularly since the proposed grant
seemingly encroached on the property of Lester and the Town Highway.
A resolution w~s requested by William Wickham, Attorney~ stating
that George J. Naugles.hed come.lied with the terms of a grant
made to him by the Board of Trustees on the 8th day of May~ 1937.
This resolution was adopted.
On the question of rights to use the dock - permission to erect
same which was granted to ~.~.~r~ A. Go~d.~mith on the assumption
made f~om his spplication~was discussed with the Town Counsel~
R. G. Terry~ Jr. He suggested that the Board request Mr. Henry
Goldsmith to meet with the Board to explain his claim to ownership
and to try to arrange a satisfactory agreement ~ith the other
property owners who have claim to the right of way as to their use
of the said dock.
It was suggested by Mr. Terry that the Board use ca~e in estab-
lishing claimants title to properties before issuing them any
permits~ easements, grants, etc.
The neet meeting to be held the last Tuesday of August.
