A Local Law in Relation to Zoning.
BE IT ENACTED by the Town Board of the Town of $outhold as follows:
I. Chapter 100 (Zoning) of the Code of the Town of
Southold is hereby amended as follows:
1. ~ 100-13 (Definitions) is hereby amended by
deleting "Fences" from the definition of "Building".
~ 100-13 (Definitions) ia hereby amended hy adding the
term "FENCE" to read as follows:
"FENCE - A structure bounding an area of
land designed to either limit access to the area or to
screen such an area from view, or both."
II. This Local La%,~ shall t~kc effect upon its filing with the
Secretary of State.

SUPERVISOR MURPHY: The first public hearing is one on a proposed "Local
Law in Relation to Zoning." The official notice to be read by Councilman
Penny.
COUNCILMAN PENNY: "Public Notice is hereby given that there has been pre-
sented to the Town Board of the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York,
on the 26th day of July, 1988, a Local Law entitled, "A Local Law in Relation to
Zoning". Notice is further given that the Town Board of the Town of Southoid
will hold a public hearing on the aforesaid Local Law at the Southold Town Hall,
Main Road, Southold, New York, on the 23rd day of August, 1998, at 3:30
olclock P. M., at which time all interested persons will be heard. This proposed
"Local Law in Relation to Zoning" reads as follows:
BE IT ENACTED by the Town Board of the Town of Southold as follows:
I. Chapter 100 {Zoning) of the Code of the Town of Southold is hereby amended
as follows:
1. Section 100 13 (Definitions) is hereby amended hy deleting "Fences"
from the definition of "Building"_
2. Section 100-I3 (Definitions) is hereby amended b~' adding the term
"FENCE" to read as follows:
"FENCE A Structure bounding an area of land designed to either
limit access to the area or to screen such an area from
view, or both."
Il. This Local Law shall take effect upon its filling with the Secretary of
State.
Copies of said Local Law are available in the Office of the Town Clerk to any
interested persons during business hours. Dated: August 9, 1988. Judith T.
Terry, Southold Town Clerk."
I have an affidavit of publication from the Suffolk Times, an affidavit of
publication from the Traveler Watchman, and an affidavit from the Town Clerk
that this has been p~sted on the Bulletin Board. I have a communication from
the Planning Board. "Dear Mrs. Terry: The following action was taken by
the $outhold Town Planning Boa~d on Thursday, August 4, 1988. RESOLVED
that the 5outhold Town Planning Board make a recommendation to the Town
Board to approve this amendment pertaining to fences. If you have any
questions, please do not hesitate to contact this office. Very truly yours,

"Gentlemen: Pursuant to the requirements of Section A 14-14 to 23 of' the
Suffolk County Administrative Code, the above referenced application which

to be a matter for local determination. A decision of local determination should
not be construed as either an approval or disapproval. Very truly yours,
