A Local Law in Relation to Zoninq
BE IT ENACTED by the Town Board of the Town of Southold as
follows:
I. Chapter 100 (Zoning) of the Code of t/~e Town of Southold is
amended a~ follows:
1. Section 100-13 is amended by a~ending the definition of
'F~ILY' to read as follows:
F~IL¥- One (1) or more persons occuD¥ing ~
dwelling unit as a single non-profit housekeepin~
unit. More than five persons 18 years of age or
older, exclusiva of domestic servants, not related
by blood,marriage or adoption shall not be
considered to constitute a "family".
II. This Local Law shall take effect upon its filing with the
Secretary of State.

Chapter-100 (Zoning) of the Code of the Town of Southold
is amended as fo%lows:

FAMILY- One (1) or more persons occupying a dwelling
unit as a single non-profit housekeeping unit. More
than five persons 18 years of age or older, exclusive
of domestic servants, not related by blood, marriage,
or adoption shall not be considered a "family"
II. This Local Law shall take effect upon its filing with the
Secretary of State.

iN THE MATTER OF PROPOSED "LOCAL LAW IN RELATION TO ZONING."

SUPERVISOR MURPHY: This is a hearing on a proposed "Local Law in
Relation to Zoning". The official notice is to be read by Councilwomen
COUNCILWOMAN LARSEN: "Public Notice is hereby given that there has been
presented to the Town Board of the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New
York, on the 19th day of April, 1988, a Local Law entitled, "A Local Law in
Relation to Zoning." Notice is further given that the Town Board of the Town
of Southeld will hold a public hearing on the aforesaid Local Law at the
Southold Town Hall, Main Road, Southold, New York, on the 17th day of
May, 1988, at 8:02 o~clock P.M., at wbich time all interested persons will be
heard. This proposed "Local Law in Relation to Zoning: reads as follows:
BE IT ENACTED by the Town Boa~d of the Town of Southold as follows:
I. Chapter 100 (Zoning) of the Code of the Town of Southold is amended
as follows:
1. Section 10D-13 is amended by amending the definition of "FAMILY"
to read as follows;
FAMILY- One (1) or more persons occupying a dwelling unit
as a single non-profit housekeeping unit. More than five (5)
persons 18 years of age or older, exclusive of domestic servants,
not related by blood, marriage or adoption shall not be con-
sidered to constitute a "family".
II. This Local Law shall take effect upon its filing with the Secretary of
State.
Copies of said Local Law are available in the Office of the Town Clerk to any
interested persons during business hours. DATED: May 3, 1988_ Judith T.
Terry, Southold Town Clerk."
I have proof of publication in the Suffolk Times, a publication in the
Long Island Traveler-Watchman, and an affidavit posted on the Town Hall
Bulletin Board, by the Town Clerk
] have a letter from the Suffolk County, Director of Planning, Lee E.
Koppelman, which reads as follows: "Gentlemen: Pursuant to the require-
merit= of Sections A 14-Iq to 23 of the Suffolk County Administrative Code,
the above referenced application which has been submitted to the Suffolk
County Planning Commission is cor~sidered to be a matter for local determination.
A decision of local determination should not be const,ued as either an approval
or disapproval."

I, also have a Jotter from the Chairman of the Bouthold Town Planning
Hoard, which reads as follows: "The following action was taken by the
Southold Town Planning Hoard on Monday, April 25, 1988. RESOLVED that
the Bouthold Town Planning Board recommend approval to the Town Board
the proposed local law in relation to Zoning, which pertains to amending the
definition of "FAMILY". RESOLVED that the Southold Town Planning Board
recommend approval to the Town Hoard the proposed local law in relation to
Zoning, which pertains to Architectural features. RESOLVED that the
Southold Town Planning Hoard recommend approval to the Town Hoa~d the
proposed local law in relation to Zoning, which pertains to setback from
bulkheads."
