Southold Town Zoning Commission
May 8, 1956
The Southold Town Zoning Commission met in the Greenport
office on Tuesday, May 8, 1956, at 9:45 P.M. following the meet-
ing of the Planning Board. All of the members were present.
Others: Supervisor Klipp and Mrs. Wickham.
There was considerable discussion regarding a regulation
in the Building Zone Ordinance for migrant labor camps. Mr.
Muddeman had sent in a suggested wording, but this was changed
as follows:
Section 1003a -- Farm Camps, or Labor Camps -- All labor
camps where provision is made for the housing and feeding of
transients or permanent help regardless of the number to be ac-
commodated, shall first meet all requirements of existing law.
Farm labor camps on farms shall be located no nearer to any other
residence than to the residence of the employer except by prior
approval by the Zoning Board of Appeals. The location of any
other labor camp or camps shall meet the approval of the Zoning
Board of Appeals.
It was suggested that Supervisor Klipp obtain the Town or-
dinance in regard to trailer camps before Article VI is approved.
It was decided that the next meeting of the Zoning Commission
be held in Greenport on Tuesday, May 29th, at 7:30 P.M.
Mrs. Wickham submitted her bill for stenographic services
and this was approved by the Commission. ,
