Southold Town Planning Board
May 13, 1955
The Southold Town Planning Board held its organization meeting
at the Town Clerkts office in -Southold on May 13, 1955, at 2:30 P.M.
Members present: John 'Wickham, Cutchogue, Serge Doyen, Fishers Island,
Robert Gillispie, East Marion, H. R . Reeve, Mattituck, Charles Van
Duzer, Southold. Also present were Supervisor Norman Klipp, Otto Van
Tuyl, member of the S ff olk County Planning Board, and John 1A. Muddeman,
consultant to the Suf�olk County Planning Board. Mr. Van Tuyl was ap-
pointed temporary chairman and the following officers were elected:
President, John Wickham; Vice-President, Robert Gillispie; Secretary,
Charles Van Duzer.
A discussion was held concerning the appointment of a paid clerk to
take minutes of our meetings and also do the necessary c]s rical wcrk
that will increase as the meetings progress. Mr. h. R. Reeve volunteered
to ask Mrs. John V;ikkham if she would accept the position, salary $1.50
per hour.
Mr. Muddeman gave us copies of Recommended Rules and Regulations
for the Sub-division of Land and instructions for filing sub-division
maps. These are standard rules and the Board was asked to study theme,
He explained briefly some of the important features of the Rules. Mr.
Muddeman stye wed the importance of adopting a set of Rules and Regula-
tions as soon as possible. It was suggested that copies of these Rules
be sent to the town attorney and also to the Superintendent of Highways
and that these gentlemen be invited to attend our next meeting which
was scheduled for Vuednesday evening at the Town Clerkts office at 7:30
P.M.
The Board voted to purchase a steel filing cabinet, 4 drawers,
legal size, with pendof lex filing system. Supervisor Klipp agreed to
obtain the cabinet.
The meeting adjourend at 4:30 P .M.
