HomeMy WebLinkAboutLP-04/15/2014 LAND PRESERVATION COMMITTEE MEETING Minutes & Discussion Notes from Meeting held Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. Town Hall Annex Executive Board Room Members Present: John Sepenoski, Chairman Eric Keil Sam McCullough Lillian Ball Members Absent: Anne Murray Maureen Cullinane Also present: Melissa Spiro, Land Preservation Coordinator Melanie Doroski, Land Preservation Secretary Tim Caufield, Peconic Land Trust Vice President Luke McKay, Peconic Land Trust Commencement:  The meeting began at 7:09 p.m. with four LPC members present. Adoption of Meeting Minutes:  Acceptance of LPC meeting minutes from March 18, 2014 HOLD – no quorum Land Preservation Applications and Inquiries:  SCTM #1000-55.-2-10.2 (MOFFAT FARM NORTH, LLC) Project update and inquiry from landowner Landowners requested a reduction of LPC’s contract requirement of the 450’ setback for a scenic view shed. LPC favorable to reducing setback footage but would like to see provisions for farm access through easterly side of property rather than through high berm located along highway curve. Melissa instructed to work with landowners’ attorney for farm access way.  SCTM #1000-20.-3-6.2 (EDWARDS) Project update Appraisal has been ordered on the Edwards property. Several scenarios are to be considered when doing appraisal. Luke McKay, from PLT, working with NRCS for possible grant funding. Applications & Inquiries for Uses or Structures on Preserved Property: None Stewardship and Management: None General Land Preservation Items:  REQUEST FROM COUNTY FOR LIST OF ENVIRONMENTALLY SENSITIVE LANDS FOR POTENTIAL ACQUISITION Review draft list Melissa provided LPC members with a confidential draft list of potential open space properties that County may be willing to spend an allocated $1.2 million earmarked for lands within the Town of Southold. After review of potential properties, LPC recommended that County’s requested list focus of properties in Corey Creek, Richmond Creek, and greater Pipes Cove areas. If County gets no response from landowners in these target areas, then a supplemental list of potential open space properties will be submitted to County for further consideration.  PLT’S FARM FOR THE FUTURE INITIATIVE (PLT presentation) Ag Center Update o Affirmative and Affordability Covenants o HOLD – due to time constraints Next Regular Meeting:  Tuesday, April 29, 2014.
