RE: 20 CAROLE ROAD, SOUTHOLD
SCTM#: 1000-52-2-2
Dear Mr. Higgins:
In response to your letter dated June 19, 2014, the Board of Trustees reviewed your
request to remove two (2)trees that are dying at the above mentioned property.
Regarding the willow tree (tree #1), the Board of Trustees determined that this tree is
dying/dead and that no permit will be required in order to remove this tree.
Regarding the locust tree (tree#2), the Board of Trustees determined that this tree
appears to be healthy and solidly rooted, and should remain. It is recommended that
this tree be pruned, particularly near the house.
Any other activity within 100' of the wetland boundary requires a permit from this office.
This is not a determination from any other agency.
If you have any questions, please call our office at (631) 765-1892.
Sincerely,
Michael J. Domino, Vice President
Board of Trustees

Re: 20 Carole Road, Southold,NY
Our File No. 992
Dear Trustees:
The undersigned represents Kevin D. Conlan and Daniel F. Conlan, owners of the
captioned property. My clients seek your consent to remove two (2) dying trees on their
property.
The first tree shown in the enclosed pictures numbered 1, 2 and 3 is located on the
southwest side of the property and is very close to the bulkhead. The roots are stressing the
bulkhead. The tree overhangs the house and drops a considerable amount of debris on the roof.
The tree is dying; it has lost bark and various limbs have fallen. The top branches of the tree are
no longer green and the tree is deteriorating to the extent that my clients fear that it may fall
posing a safety hazard and danger.
The second tree shown in photographs 4, 5 and 6 is located on the southeast side
of the property and is also dying. Tropical Storm Sandy shifted the tree. The tree roots are
undermining the on-grade block terrace and is also stressing the bulkhead since it is very close to
the bulkhead.
The Conlan family enjoys the home and are concerned that the trees pose a safety
hazard to themselves and to their neighbors.
Board of Town Trustees - 2 - June 19, 2014
Town of Southold
My clients respectfully request consent to have both trees removed by a
professional tree service company who will restore the areas to a safe and level condition.

J. DONA S, JR.
