A regular meeting of the Southold Town Trustees was called to
order at the Town Clerk Office, Southold, New York, on Monday,
October 27, 1965, at 1:30 P.M.with the following present:
Alvah B. Goldsmith, John F. McNulty, Frank Dawson, Philip Weiler,
George Simpson, and Marion Regent, Secretary.
The Trustees held a lengthy discussion on the dredging project
in Broadwaters Cove, Mud Creek and East or Eugene Creek, Cutchogue,
New York. It was decided by the Board to meet on Monday, November
1, 1965, at 3:00 o'clock P.M. to view this area before making a
final decision on the dredging.
Application was made by George Guertin to build a bulkhead 145 feet
long at the depth of 3 feet, 645 cu. yards to be excavated in the
creek along side the Iron Bridge in Mattituck, N.Y.
Application approved. Fee-S36.25 for the bulkhead and $25.80 for
the fill, total $62.05.
Application of James D. Dizens of Deep Hole Drive, Mattituck,
N.Y. to build a 3 foot retaining bulkhead in front of his prop-
erty on Deep Hole Creek was read. After viewing the property the
Board approved tt~e application. Fee $25.00 for bulkhead, $2.00
for fill, total $27.00.
Application of Mrs. Paul Blairon to bulkhead on Mattituck Creek
in front of her property 100 feet in length was read. Since this
application had been reviewed by Mr. Dawson and Mr. McNulty at
an earlier date, the application was approved. Fee $25.00.
Application was received from the Department of Public Works for
dredging in Little Creek, Cutchogue, New York. The Board decided
to review this area on Monday, Nov. 1st.
A letter was received from Mr. Ferris Talmadge, president of the
East End Preservation Society, Inc. a newly formed corporation
composed of East Hampton people inquiring by what authority the
Suffolk County Mos~uito Elimination Commission has access to
properties. A copy of the letter was sent to Southold Town Attor-
ney Robert W. Tasker for his opinion.
The meeting was recessed until November 1, 1965.
