LAND PRESERVATION COMMITTEE MEETING
Minutes & Discussion Notes from Meeting held
Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 7:00 p.m.

Commencement:
The meeting began at 7:05 p.m. with five LPC members present.
Welcome:
The Committee welcomed newly appointed LPC member, Peggy Dickerson (term expires 3/31/2016).
Adoption of Meeting Minutes:
Acceptance of LPC meeting minutes from March 18, 2014 and April 15, 2014
HOLD –
no quorum
Land Preservation Applications and Inquiries:
PROJECT UPDATES
MOFFAT FARM NORTH, LLC
– contract signed; public hearing to be held on June 3, 2014;
o
feds reviewing documents submitted for awarded grant; environmental report ordered.
SIDOR
– draft contract not signed; draft easement comments under review.
o
ELAK
– waiting for appraisal.
o
EDWARDS
– waiting for appraisal.
o
CALABRESE
– Melissa met with landowners to discuss easement area being used for
o
agriculture or meadowland. Landowners will be in touch.
COOPER
– awaiting response regarding AgPDD easement draft.

General Land Preservation Items:
NRCS FY2014 GRANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Deadline for federal grant proposals is June 6, 2014.
At this time, there are no projects before the committee that are worthy for submission in meeting
federal guidelines.
PLT’S FARM FOR THE FUTURE INITIATIVE (PLT presentation)
Tim Caufield and Luke McKay of Peconic Land Trust gave presentation on “Peconic Land Trust’s
Farm for the Future Initiative” which included:
Ag Center Update

Affirmative and Affordability Covenants
o
LPC members commented on various aspects of the initiative.
