According to the Code of the Town of Southold,a building permit expires in 18 months from the date of issue,with a 6-month extension for a total of 2 years. If at the end of two years construction is not completed,the building permit must be renewed and a new fee submitted.Occupancy or Use is unlawful without a Certificate of Occupancy. The fee to renew your Building Permit is$2155.70 for the dwelling and$75.00 to alter the house trailer to a non-habitable accessory storage structure. When construction is completed,two Certificates Of Occupancy will be required.The building permits need to be renewed and a final inspection done as soon as possible.
