diverse group of students who felt comfortable sharing their feelings and
concerns. Phillip will request that Jessica send the report electronically.
Youth Advisory Council (YAC) Membership:
Many YAC will graduate in June.
For the new school year, Greenport has no students active in YAC, Southold has
six active students and Mattituck has four active students. Ideally each school will
have a minimum of five students.
Follow-Up Report of April Activities:
Job and Internship Fair was a major success with 14 employers offering
over 50 jobs. 52 attendees-high school students and graduates.
Community Service Forum was much less successful this year. 18
organizations attended and 7 individuals attended the forum. Next year the
Job Fair and Community Service Forum will be held on the same day and
time, one at the Recreation Center and the other at the Community Center.
Open Gym-Despite that students were required to “register” the turnout
was poor. 34 students registered and only 7 attended, 4 from Greenport
and 3 from Southold. It was decided to try once again during a Friday night
in the winter.
Several members suggested having signage on Peconic Lane that notice events
happening at the Recreation Center and Community Centers that might increase
attendance at events. Phillip will relay request to the Parks and Recreation
Committee and the Recreation Director.

awaiting official notification from the County that they will receive funding from the

has been developed. Youth Bureau board members and Youth Advisory Council
members should “like” the page and forward to friends. The Bike Swap will be
noticed on the page.
