HomeMy WebLinkAbout04/2014 May 05, 2014 To: Town Board Fr: Phillip Beltz Re: APRIL 2014 SUMMARY REPORT-SPECIAL PROJECTS COORDINATOR Housing:  Facilitated Housing Advisory Commission (HAC) meeting and disseminated minutes.  With Supervisor, Town Attorney and Planning Director, discussion with developer proposing development of moderate income housing (sales) to be further vetted by HAC.  Meeting with Tim Caulfield, Peconic Land Trust and Rona Smith (HAC) regarding development of affordable housing and affordable land preservation.  With Heather Lanza, meeting with Southold Historical Society director, Geoffrey Fleming and SHS volunteer (Robert Barrett) to discuss possible conversion of accessory structure to affordable housing.  Meeting with Leslie Weisman as follow-up to Code Committee meeting regarding development of apartments in hamlet business zones. Youth Bureau:  Continued supervision of Mattituck senior, Christian Montgomery.  Continued meeting with Southampton and Riverhead Youth Bureau directors and aides of Legislators Krupski and Schneiderman to develop regional East End youth needs assessment.  Attended Suffolk County Youth Board Coordinating Council meeting as well as Suffolk County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council meeting.  Attended East End Partnership for Youth committee meeting to develop conference for youth service providers as well as student leadership conference.  Meeting with Crissy Witzke (Youth Bureau board) to develop Facebook page for Youth Bureau.  Facilitated Youth Job and Internship Forum that featured 14 employers with more than 50 jobs. Attended by 52 youth.  Facilitated Community Service Forum that featured 16 organizations seeking volunteers, 7 attendees.  Facilitated Open Gym at Greenport High School for middle school students, 11 students attended event.  With Councilmen Ruland and Dinizio, interviewed two prospective Youth Bureau board candidates. Comprehensive Plan:  Worked with Heather Lanza to strengthen outreach for community input for Land Use chapter. Economic Development:  Continued recruitment for business participation of Youth Job and Internship Fair.  Scheduled meeting to provide strategic planning and resources for Lighthouse Works fellowship program in Fishers Island. Community Development:  For Suffolk County CDBG office, prepared Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report for April 2013 to March 2014 detailing accomplishments for the year.  2014 administrative summary reporting for April CDBG administration funds from Suffolk County.  Development of Public Notice to inform public of budget modification to transfer funding allocation from Peconic Lane Community Center to Habitat for Humanity for demolition. Executive Safety:  With Councilman Ruland, Chief Flatley, Lloyd Reisenberg, Jeff Standish and Nancy Foote meeting regarding current surveillance and alarm systems within Town facilities. Additional meeting with Suffolk Security Systems. Other:  Responded to one citizen request on Town website regarding removal of dead tree on Town and private properties.  Meeting with Supervisor, Councilman Dinizio, Lloyd Reisenberg, Superintendent Gamberg and others regarding the development of student programming on Cable channel 22.  On behalf of Supervisor, attended East End Supervisors and Mayors Association meeting.  Facilitated Southold Volunteer Recognition celebration.
