Minutes of the meeting of September 29, 1958 were read and approved.
Permits were signed for Mrs. Lennon, Leo Brac and Eleanor Pollock
as per applications approved at the previous meeting.
The Board inspected the shore lines of Mattituck Creek to determine
the proper limits of dock lengths that might be approved, and
noted the docks built or under construction under permits previous-
ly issued. In the case of HENRY MARKS, the permit was for a dock
of ~0 feet overall length from ordinary high water. The dock was
found to be 60 feet overall and within a few feet of the dredged
channel and marker. The Board instructed the Clerk to write Mr.
Marks and ask that the two existing outer spiles be removed ~efore
the dock is completed so as to conform to the limits specified
in the permit.
The same situation applies to the dock of MORTIMER PHILLIPS and the
Clerk was instructed to write to him and ask that the dock be
shortened to conform to the permit issued.
The application of Mr.ALFRED C. ROWOHLT was considered and the
Clerk wes instructed to advise Mr. Rowohlt of its action in re:
Phillips and Marks and to recommend that he amend his request
to a limit of $O feet overall length from high water to conform
to the general shore line of the creek.
The Board considered the proposed County Ordinance and concluded
that many of its provisions were incompatable with conditions
existing in Southold Town Waters. The Board voted to add a para-
graph to the revised Town Ordinance relating to the mooring
of boats, etc. in Town Waters - somewhat as follows:
No boats shall be moored or anchored
off the ends of any Town Highway in
the Town of Southold in such a manner
as to interfere with access to and from
such h~ghways nor shall any person
moor or anchor any boat in a manner
that would interfere with navigation in any
channels in Town waters.
Minutes read and approved.
Meeting adjourned at 5:~5 P.M.
