TOWN TRUSTEES
Meeting of August ~, 1971
The $outhold Town Board of Town Trustees met at the Town Clerk's
,Office, Main Road, Southqld, New York, on Monday, August 9, 1971,
at 7:30 P.M., with the following present:
Alvah B. Goldsmith, Chairman, John F. McNulty, Frank S. Dawson,
Douglas M~ Robertson, George A. S~mpson, and Judith T. Boken, Secretary.
Mr. Goldsmith, Mr. Dawson and Mr. McNulty will be attending the
annual Town Board meeting on Fishers Island on Tuesday, August 17,
1971.
Mr. William Boscola appeared before the Board to present his appli-
cation in the name of Mattituck Holdinq. Co., Inc., for permission to
build a bulkhead and dredge a slip for hauling at Mill Road, Mattituck,
New York. He proposes to build a boat storage shed and to bulkhead
to hold the bank and install a travel lift slip on the west side of
Mattituck Inlet Channel, at the south end of the Mattituck Holding
Co. Inc. property.
On motion of Mr. McNulty, seconded by Mr. Dawson, it was
RESOLVED that Mattituck Holdinq Co., Inc., William Boscola Jr., be
granted permission to bulkhead 260 ft., build a dock-ca~Falk for
hoist 40 ft., and dredge 1700 yards for a hauling slip at the west ~
side of M~ttituck Inlet, Mill Road, Mattituck, New York, all in
accordance with the application submitted. Fee $158.00. Permit
No. 675.

The Board of Town Trustees discussed with Mr. Bo$cola the situation
existing at the Mattituck Inlet and agreed that arrangements should
be made with the U. S. Corps of Army Engineers for an inspection of
the area.
The Board signe~ the following approved permits: $651-James
Kimmins; $652-Carl Hockemeyer; $653-Yolanda Gratta; $654-Yolanda
Robbins; $655-Arthur W. Hughes (2 stakes $264); $656-Frank
Milowski (2 stakes ~265); ~657-Thomas F. Lloyd (2 stakes ~26~);
$658-George F. Anderegg Jr. & Karen Anderegg.
The matter of dredging at Smith Drive North was discussed and it
was agreed that there ~ould be no objection to the extension of
the dredged canal at Smith Drive North to join the County dredged
channel which stops directly opposite the canal of O'Neill. The
only question being the disppsition of the fill, however, an appli-
cation should be made for permission for the project.

The Board discussed the fee for permit ~654 of Mrs. Yolanda
Robbins.
On motion of Mr. Robertson, seconded by Mr. Dawson, it was
RESOLVED that the fee for permit No. 654, Yolanda Robbins,
bulkhead 55 ft. across her property at Deep Hole Creek, Mattituck,
New YorE, be reduced from $12.50 to $5.00 as this work is to be
all on her own property.

The Board received an application from Robert T. Halliday to amend
his Permit No. 642 dated May 3, 1971. The amendment is to cover an
enlargement of a float and addition of a ramp.
On motion of Mr. Robertson, seconded by Mr. Simpson, it was
RESOLVED that Robert T. Hallida¥, 265 Westview Drive, Mattituck, New
York, be granted permission to construct a 14 ft. by 9 ft.f~oat,
and 44 ft. by 2 ft. 6 in. ramp on his property at Long Creek, 265
Westview Drive, Mattituck, New York, as an amendment to Permit No.
642 dated May 3,,_~1971, all in accordance with the map submitted.
Additional fee $24.00. Permit No. 676, 2 stakes No. 260.

On motion of Mr. Simpson, seconded by Mr. McNulty, it was
RESOLVED that Frederick Reiff, 575 Westview Drive, Mattituck, New
York, be granted permission to install ~ 40 ft. walk and 16 ft. by
5 ft. floating dock at his property on Mattituck. Inlet, Mattituck,
New Yor~, all in accordance with the application submitted. Fee
$28.00. Permit No. 677.

On motion of Mr. Dawson, seconded by Mr. Robertson, it was
RESOLVED that Charles and Amelia Perner, 181 Plymouth Avenue, Yonkers,
New York, be granted permission to build a floatin~ dock 16 ft. by
8 ft. and 9 ft. ramp at their property at 2000 Deep Hole Drive,
Mattituck, New York, all inacco~dance with the application submitted.
Fee $12.50. Permit No. 678.

On motion of Mr. McNulty, seconded by Mr. Simpson, it was
RESOLVED that Anthony R. Villano, 75-38 Kessel Street, Forest Hills,
New York, be granted permission t~ build an 8 ft. float, 6 ft.
dock, and 40 ft. ~amp at his property at 1950 Deep Hole Drive,
Deep Hole Creek, Mattituck, New York, all in accordance with the
application submitted. Fee $27.00. Permit No. 679.

On motion of Mr. Robertson, seconded by Mr. Dawson, it was
RESOLVED that Marjorie D. Phillips, Mill Road, Mattituck, New York,
be granted permission to bulkhead 40 ft., and build a 15 ft. ramp

and 30 ft. by 4ft. floating dock at her property on Mill Road,
Mat%ituc~ Creek, M~ttituck, New York, subject to the proposed ramp
and float being kgpt within 15 ft. of the end of the existing dock
as shown on the application diagram submitted. Fee $32.50. Permit
No. 680.

On motion of Mr. Robertson, seconded by Mr. McNulty, it was
RESOLVED that Robert Schroeder, Orients New YorK, be granted
permission to place a stake in Orient C~eek ~n fro~t of the
property of John B. Tuthill, Orient, New York, all in accordance
with the application submitted. Fee $1.00 paid. Permit No. 659,
Stake No. 267.

On motion of Mr. Dawson, seconded by Mr. Simpson, it was
RESOLVED that the application of Edward V. Kramer, ~., Booth Road,
So~thold, New York, requesting permission to place.a boat stake in
South Harbor, Southold, be denied. The ~own Trustees have agreed
not to establish any additional stake permits in ~this area. This
particular stake is on the Emerson property and without their
consent this application must be denied.

Mr. Robertson, Mr. Simpson.
On motion of Mr.,Dawson, seconded by Mr. McNulty, it was
RESOLVED that ~he application of Denis M. Salzmann, 3216 Decatur
Avenue, Bronx, New. York and 650 Oak Avenue, Southold, New York, be
denied . Mr. Salzmann requested permission to place a boat mooring
in front of his property at Goose Ba~, Southold, The Goose. Bay
Civic Association has filed plans with the Town Trustees for the
location of stakes in the Goose Bay Area and this plan has the
approval of the Board. The Trustees will not interfere with the
arrangements made by the Goose Bay Civic Association for the location
of stakes in their area.

On motion of Mr. Simpson, seconded by Mr. DawMon, it w-as
RESOL~VED that Robert L. Holl,is, 142 Tahlulah Lane, West Islip, New
York, and West Lake Drive, Cedar Beach, Southold, New York, be
granted permission to place a boat ~ooring in Corey Creek near
· aughing Water, Southold, all in accordance with the application
submitted, provided this stake will not be in the dredged channel,
and will not interefere with navigation.in that area. Fee $1.00
paid. Permit No. 663. Stake No. 271.

York, be granted permission to place a boat mooring stake in Orient
Creek in front of the property of J. B. Tuthill, Orient, New York,
all in accordance with the application submitted. Fee $1.00. Permit
No. 622. Stake No. 2~0.

On motion of Mr. Robertson, seconded by Mr. McNulty, it was
RESOLVED that ~rold Olsen~ Beachwood Road, Cutchogue, New York,
and 140 Arleigh Road, Douglaston, New York, be granted a renewal
of his permit Ho. 367, dated August 1~ 1966, for permission to
bulkhead 100 ft. across his property and dredge for backfill at
Hall's Creek, Cutchogue, New York, all in accordance with previous
application submitted. No fee - renewal permit~No. 367.

On motion of Mr~ Robertson, seconded by Mr. McNulty, it was
RESOLVED that James Frank, 243 55th Street, Brooklyn, New York, and
Grove Road, Southold, New York, be granted~permission to temporarily
place a boat mooring stake at the end of Meadow Lane, Mill Creek,
Southold, New York, all in accordance with the application submitted.
Fee $1.00 paid. Permit No. 664. Stake No. 272.

York, be granted permission to place a boat mooring,in front of
his property at Gull Pond, Greenport, New York, all in accordance
with the application submitted. Fee $1.00 paid. Permit No~ 661,

Greenport, New York, in front of mooring lots of Cleaves Point, all
in accordance with the application submitted. Fee $1.00 paid.

Main Road, Southold, New York.
