on Monday, December 4, 1967, at 7:30 P.M. with the following present:

Minutes of the meeting of November 13, 1967 were read and approved.
Supervisor Albertson and Mr. P2~tkur O'Neill appeared before the
Trustees in relation to dredging the connecting link between the main
channel of Goose Creek and a private channel which had been filled
with mud as a result of the break in a dike in the process of dredging
Goose Creek. After discussion the following resolution was unanimously
adopted by the Trustees:
WHEREAS, After many months of negotiations with all departments con-
cerned, including, but not limited to, the Army Engineers, New York
State Fish and Wildlife, New York State Conservation Department,
Suffolk County Department of Public Works, Southold Town Board
and Southold Town Board of Trustees, as well as the Suffolk County
Ecological study group, permits have been approved to dredge areas
of Goose Creek, Southold, and
WHEREAS, in the process of dredging said creek a retaining dike gave
way allowing some mud to run into not only Goose Creek but also a
private channel serving many families, and
WHEREAS, in order to correct the condition existing because of the break
in the dike it would be necessary to clean out this private channel
as well as some areas of the creek, and
WHEREAS, the property owners directly affected have agreed by signed
statement to wave any claim of damages sustained by said break in the
dike allowing fill to run into said private channel, if the County

ing channel,
~OW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That we, the members of the Southold
Town Board of Trustees, because of the damage caused by the break in
the dike and because it would be in the best interest of the people
of the Town of Southold and the people of the County of Suffolk, respect-
fully request the Suffolk County Department of Public Works to dredge
the connecting link between the main channel and the private channel.
Vote of Town ~-~: Ayes- ALL MEMBERS
Several members of the Orient area appeared before the Trustees regard-
ing the meadow land along the State Park property in Orient. Since the
rumored "take over" of property ~ State Park Commission was ex-
plained as being merely a survey for information of the Commission, and
since any acquisition of land would be preceeded by a local hearing and
would afford the local residents an opportunity to express themselves
favorably before such a project would be approved, the matter was
considered closed for the time being.
Application of Irvinq C. Latham, Orient, N.Y. to dredge a channel to
State Park property and Little Bay in Orient was discussed. Since the
proposed dredging is all on Mr. Latham's own property, the Trustees
w~ved objection to this project.
Mr. William Januick, Bay Constable, appeared before the meeting and
agreed to inspect the dredging, docks and bulkheads as a result of
permits issued by the Town Trustees.
The Town Trustees will meet Bt the Town Clerk's Office, at 9:00 A.M.
on Tuesday, December 12, 1967, weather permitting, to view property
in relation th the applications of the following:
Ann Marie Nelson
Frank Zeleski
Arthur Guitard & ors.
August H. Bohn
A motion was made and unanimously adopted to request all applicants for
anythinq other than stakes to appear in person before the Board or have
an authorized person represent him in order that complete information
be obtained which will expedite the proposed application.

Mr. & Mrs. William Victoria. for a grant of land which was previously
under water of Corey Creek, ~nclosing a proposed grant, together with
a survey prepared by Robert A. Kart showing the parcel in question.
In view of the circumstances surrounding this project the application
was denied and a letter was authorized to be sent to Mr. Wickham
advising him of the claim against Mr. Victoria which the To,Tn Trustees
have started.
Adjournment was at 10 P.M.
