The Southold Town Trustees met at the Southold Town Clerk Office on
Monday evening, September 11, 1967, at 7:30 P.M. with the following
present: Alvah B. Goldsmith, George Simpson, John F. McNulty, Frank
Dawson, Douglas Robertson and Marion Regent, Secretary.
The minutes of the meeting of August 7, 1967 were read and approved.
Application~r an extension to the permit for dredging in Goose Creek,
Southold, was received from the Department of Public Works. The
Trustees agreed to wave objection to this application and a letter
was sent to R. M. Kammerer, Commissioner, confirming the approval
of the Trustees.
Application of ~rl Distenfeld of Salt Lake Lane, Mattituck, for per-
mission to set anchors in deep water in James Creek was read and
Location A on the application was granted provided there are no
objections from other ~rea residents. Fee 50¢ paid. j
Application of Robert A. Dow, Horton Lane, mouthold, for permission
to place two stakes in Jockey Creek at the end of Gilbert Street,
Southold, was read and granted subject to stakes being clear of the
dredged channel so as not to interfere with navigation. Fee $1.00 paid.~
Application of Robert Brautiqan of Beebe Drive, East Cutchogue, N.Y.
to dredge 50' x 30' in Eugene's Creek in front of his own property
was granted, Fee $16.00. ~
Application of Goose Bay Civic Association Inc. for permission to
dredge approximately 1900' in length and 20 or 25' in width and main-
t~in the existing channel and beach in Goose Creek ~as granted. The
fee for the Association is a nominal fee of $25.00Vsince this is a
restoration job.
Application of Harold L. Smith for permission to place cement blocks
and rubble under his dock in conjunction with Goose Bay Civic Assoc-
iation project of restoration was granted with no charge.
The applications of Frank Curtis, Jr., Ida Poliwoda and Victor Cierach
of Waterview Drive, Bay View, Southold, for permission to dredge in
Goose Creek in front of their own properties were granted as follows:
Ida Poliwoda-estimated yardage 1000 cu. yds.- .... $40.00 ~
Victor Cierach- " " 1000 cu,. yds.- .... 40.00
Frank Curtis, Jr. " " 1200 cu. yds.- .... 48.00 ~
Property on Fisherman's Beach, Nassau Point, Cutchogue, owned by Fuller
H. Heath was filled on the Bay side by the County dredge. The Trustees
granted a quit claim deed to the filled area to satisfy the title
company that this filled land did not bar access to the water front as
it now exists.
