HomeMy WebLinkAboutTR-06/06/1966MEETING OF JUNE 6, 1966 The Southold Town Trustees met at the Town Clerk Office on Monday, June 6, 1966 at 1:30 P.M. with the following present: Allah B. Goldsmith, Douglas Robertson, Frank Dawson, John F. McNulty, Marion Regent, Sec. Also present at the meeting were five interested guests - Mrs. Taylor, Mrs. Ross, Mrs. Tuthill, Mrs. Stoutenburgh and Mrs. Mary Chapmans, Town Historian. Application for the proposed reconstruction of Goose Crse~ Brid~e was received from the Com~issioner of Public Works, R. M. Kammerer. The Town Trustees agreed upon an easement to the Dept. of Public Works for this project and Mr. Tasker, TOWn Attorney, will prepare said easement. Application of the O~ster Ponds Ro~ and Gun club to dredge a suit- able channel into Hallock's Bay, proceeding from Pete's Neck into entrance of Narrow River 100 feet wide and 8 feet deep at mean low water, from this point to a point about 100 fee~ west of Dyers woods, widen out to full water wid~th on each side, then proueed west of Dyers to within 50 feet of the present Broad Meadow dyke and drain this part at a reduced wi4th of 75 feet. The application was in the form of a petition with sixty names of Orient residents. The Town Trustees withheld decision on this application for further survey and study. Application was received from the Department of Public Works for proposed dredging in Little Creek together with revised plans and maps. After studying the changes made from the preliminary plans of dredging, the Trustees approved the revised proposal for dredging Little Creek. Application of George M. Bridge to ~oor a 19 foot saillboat in Town Creek in accordance with application submitted was approved. Fee 50¢ paid. Application of George Ahlers and Barbara Rubin to dredge existing gutter in Jockey Creek was held for further study and investigation. Application of Peter L. Berdinka to place a stake in Mattituck Creek was received. Since this application is approved by Harbor Master Thomas B. Reeve, it was granted. Fee 50¢ paid. A letter was received from Ra~mond J. Kenne~ in relation to the dredging at East Creek in Cutahogue, Mr. Kenney requested that sand be placed on his property as well as as the property on the opposite shoreline properties. Mr. Kenney was informed by letter that there is no sand available. A letter was received from Edward J. Conlan of Mattituck complaining about the barricade of trees, stumps and discarded cars which have been bulldozed by the owner of Lot G in Shore Acres onto Bay view Avenue, together with signs of NO TRESPASSING. Mr. Conlan feels that this area should be open to the public to pass and repass below high -2- water mark. The Trustees agree with Mr. Conlan and will investigate the area. Application of Anthony J. Gazzola and Albert G. BErgen to bulkhead on a canal off Corey Creek was discussed. It was decided that the Trustees had no Jurisdiction over this project since it is on a private canal. A letter was sent to the applicants to this effect. Application of Frederick Go Kin~sland of 8 Broad St., Greenport, N.Y. t~ place a stake off Beach Road, Greenport, near Sterling Harbor was granted. Fee 5~¢ paid. Application of Edwin H. Kin~ Oxient, N.Y. to install 12 mooring stakes for boats in Hallocks Bay off Narrow River Road was approved. Fee $6.00 paid. Application of Browers woods Assn. Inc., Mattituck, N.Y. to construct a wooden walkout and floats, Mattituck Inlet, was read and discussed. The application was returned for m~re information as to dimensions of walkout and floats. Application of Robert Crane for a mooring at the end of South Harbor Road, Southold, was denied. 'The Trustees had had complaints about this area and upon investi~ating found that there was no room for additional boats. Mr. Cran&s application was ret~lEned. A copy of a letter written by the Planning Board to Mr. William Victoria was read. This letter related to a canal which has been dug on the south side of Main Bayview Road. The Planning Board advised Mr. Victoria to fill in the canal to its original condition. Application of John W. Moller, Westphalia Road, Mattituck, to install temporary float and access walk in HOW~d Creek was read andapproved. Float-8' long x 6' wide ) Walk -30' long x 2' wide) Fee $24.00 Application of Burnett F. Tuthill to remove washed in fill from the channel at Broadwaters Rd., Nassau Point, Cutchogue, to former depth was granted, this being a restoration of original permit. No charge. Application of Joseph and Ida Rassy to extend present dock 10 feet in Jockey Creek was granted. Fee $5.00. Application of Ro~er H. Doyle to place stake in Mill Creek, Greenport, was read and approved. Fee 50¢ paid. This application was reviewed by Douglas Robertson. The application of Leon L. Allemon of Bungalow Lane, Mattituck, to add 12 feet to the existing dock in Deep Hole Dreek was reviewed by Frank Dawson and approved by the Trustees. Fee $6.00 paid. The application of John Frosin~ to dredge and improve the beach on Jockey Creek was approved at the May meeting. The fee for dredging is $48.00 (.04 per cu. yad for approx. 1200 yards) 10. Application of Frank Nowak, Charles A. Quit and Charles Ostheimer to bulkhead, dredge and install a floating dock, all in accordance with the revised plan attached to application, was approved by the Trustees. Fee as follows: 1680 f~. O~ bulkhead ~ .25 .............. $420.00 240 ft. of main dock ~ .50 ............. 120.00 1450 ft. of floating dock ~.50 .......... 725.00 Total Fee $ 1265.00 Application of W. Stantfield Cooper of Pine Neck Road, Southold to install floating dock with ramp and fixed approach was reviewed by Mr. Dawson and Mr. Robertson. Length of dock 24 ft. ~ .50---$12.00 Approved. A letter was sent to casbor, Inc. informing them of the decision of the Board that the Trustees do not have jurisdiction in West Lake, since it is on private property and opens into Peconic Bay.
