HomeMy WebLinkAboutTR-01/30/1966-CONFERENCEConference - January 30, 1966.
A conference was held on the afternoon of January 30, 1966 between
Mr. Orville Beene, Mr. William Beebe, his representative and Alvah
B. Goldsmith, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the request of
Mr. William Beebe. Mr. Orville Beebe is owner of the property
south of Eugene's Road and east of Mud Creek which the County
started to dike and on which they have erected a sluiceway and
on which work has now been halted by order of tbs Town Officials.
The purpose of the conference was to discuss the problem which
has been created by the disturbance to his property by the action
of the County. Mr. Beebe stated that the whole idea of using
his property as a spoil area originated with the County engineers
and was proposed by them as~being necessary to the completion
of the proposed dredging and that neither he nor anyone else
concerned had ever proposed or suggested that ~his property be
used for the placing of spoil until the request came from the
engineers for additional spoil area in that location.
Mr. Beebe asked Mr. Goldsmith to notify all concerned that nothing
further whatsoever was to be done on his property without first
obtaining written permission from him. He said he would expect
the responsible parties to submit a proposal to him for the
settlement of the problem so that an equitable solution could
be arranged.
Mr. Goldsmith told Mr. Beebe that he would convey this request
to the County Department of Public Works and to the Supervisor
of Southold Town, and would advise him of any proposed plan that
might be within the jurisdiction of the Town Trustees to make.
