Southold, meeting of the Board of Town Trustees was held~ at J~nuary. 3, 1978 at -the Town Hall, Main .Road, Present were: Businessmen' s ~Assn. · Philip G. Horton, Trustee Paul Stoutenburgh, Trustee John Nickles, Trustee Scott Harris, Trustee John Bednoski, Jr George ird ' - .- Charles Sid0r0wicz Absent was. Josep Hataier,'Tr~stee Mr. Nickles made a mot%on to designate_Philip G, Horton.as president 'of the Board of Southold TOWn Trustees for a period, of two years. Mr. Harris seconded the motion and it was carried. Mr.'St0u~nburgh 'made a motion to'designate Muriel-'BrUsh- as clerk of the Board of Southold Town Trustees for.the.year 1978. Mr.-Harris seconded the motion and it wascarried. · . --,, - . - Mr. Horton made a motion to designate the Chemical Bank, Southold Branch, as depository for the Board of Southold To~ Trustees. Mr. Harris seconded the motion and it was carried.; There was..discussion with CaptainHoward Peterse~,regarding the pili~gshe ha~ placed inLMattituck Creek. The' b0~rd denied Capt. Petersen's application.at the last meeting. Zt was suggested that"the"baymen might not be against th~pilings being placed closer to the shore.'- Mr. Charles Sidorowioz, .a bayman,. and'George Bird, former trustee, both indicated.that i~ is now a navigational'hazard for a variety o~ reasons. It Was decided that the trustees, Mr. Petersen, and other interested parties would meet at the site at 10 a.m., Saturday, January.l~, 1978 to discuss the matter. The secretary was instructed by the president to inform the people that were at the previous meeting of this meeting .... .. *** The following letter from the NewYork State Department 'of Environmental Conservation dated December 16, 1977, was read into the minutes. "This Department has recently completedwater quality studies 281 within Stirling Harbo~ to determine the feasibility of seasonal certifi:cation of shellfish lands. Unfortunately water GUali~y ~data indicate coliform bacteria levels~in~the area which exCeed the criteria for certification° · ~,AIl~of Stirling Basin, therefore, will remain closed to shellfishing throughout the winter months." Mr.~ Stoutenburghrequested that the.DEC veri£ication of when~the count was say they haven't se by the Board and a.copy Kruszeski, Greenport Harbormaster7 President Horton moved for the adoption~of the resolution: WHEREAS, AlvahB~ Goldsmith has faithfully served thelTown of Southold as a memberof the Board of Southold Town'Trus~ees'for thirty-four years, and WHEREAS, his record of fine service to 'the Town of Southold and its people deserves the sincere gratitudeof those With whom and forwhom he worked, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Southold Town Trustees expresses its appreciation to him for his fine record of service, and its best'wishes for the years ahead, and . BE IT FURTHER. RESOLVED that this resolution be made a- part.of.. the permanent records of' the Town, and that-a copy be 'sent Alvah B. PresidentHorton'declare'd the mihutes of the November~12, 1977,-and' December'6, 1977 meetings approved as submitted¢ th'ere being, no objection to them from any member of the board~ David M. Johnson -,'application to' place 250 lb', mushroom mooring off private, property of the applicant at Corey Creek. Mr. Johnson is to be Contacted for more' specifi6 :information'~egarding the placement of this mooring. The following is necessary: the length of the mooring lin. e, depth of water bgat requires~ location to the -channel (north or south side). · M. Withers - application for floating docks at Schoolhouse' Creek. The bottom is;privately owned. Mr. Hort0n made a motion that the Board of Southold Town Truste6s has" no "objection tom this application although ib';is~not in its jurisdictions_ Mr. Nickles seconded' the 'motion and it was carried. Mr. Nickes made a motion to table the application of Salvatore Cucinotta for a dock, ramp and float at Little Creek in order to obtain more information; Mr. Harris seconded ~the motion and it Was. Carried. 28'3 On motion made by Mr~ Stoutenburgh, seconded by Mr. Harris, it was RESOLVED-toapprove the~ application of Edward Go Thomsen for mooring at BrOadwaters Covewith the. restriction that allpilings be in front of the Broadwaters Cove Dock Association property. [ -? .of $oUthold~To~Trustees actedas follows at a regular meet~g~ :':'~ held Aprit 7~1975~ ~RESOLVED that letters be forwarded to the Department of the ~rmy, New York District., Corps of Engineers, and New York State Department of Environmental'Conservation,"Stony Brook, protesting~ the construction~of an open, timber dock aporoximately 250 feet in length by 6 feet in widt~by'Robert Dier i~ the north side of Southo~d Bay 500 feet east of Founders Land~ng Town,Beach at Southold. "Although it is stated inthe description of the work to be done that these are revised plans, we detect no noviceable difference in the drawings.
