HomeMy WebLinkAboutTR-05/02/1978292 A regular meeting of the Board of Southold Town Trustees was held May 2, 1978 at 7:30 p.m. at the Town Hall, Main Road, Southold, New York. Present were: President Philip G~ Horton Trustee Soott Harris Trustee~rnaa Hataier Trustee JohnNickles Trustee Paul Stoutenburgh Mrs. Hataier made a motion to accept the minutes as presented from the meeting of April 4, 1978. Trustee Nickles seconded the motion and it was carried. On motion made by Trustee Hataier, seconded by Trustee. Harris, it was ~. ' RESOLVED to approve the application of Gilbert John Werner to place an offshore stake with pulley line to onshore stake in the vicinityof Westphalia Road and Route 27 in Mattituck Creek. Vote of the Board: Stoutenburgh Wes: Horton, Harris, Hataier, Nickles, On motion made by Trustee Stoutenburgh, seconded by Trustee Harris, it was RESOLVED to approve the application of Gerald P. McGinty to. place two piles'off private property of the applicant at Mattituck Creek. Vote of the Board: Ayes: Horton, Harris, Hataier, Nickles, Stoutenburgh Mr. and Mrs. McGinty were advised to contact the Army CorPs of Engineers to see if this matter comes under its jurisdiction. On motion made by Trustee Stoutenburgh, seconded by Trustee Hataier, it was RESOLVED to approve the application of Charles C. Watts to place a 100 lb. mushroom mooring in front of private property of the applicant at Mud Creek with the stipulation that it be placed 50 feet from the channel so the boat does not extend into the channel. Vote of the Board: Stoutenburgh ~es: Horton, Harris, Hataier, Nickles, On motion made by Trustee Harris, seconded by Trustee Hataier, £t.was 293 RESOLVED to table the application of Stephen MUrdock to place an offshore stake with pulley line to onshore stake off public property at Little Creek. There seems to be an abundance of moorings in this area. The Board would like to wait until some of these people put their moorings in to see what spot would be good for Mr. Murdock. 'Mr. Murdock is to contact Trdstee Horton when he is in-the area. Vote of the Board: Ayes: Horton, Harris, Hataier, Nickles, Stoutenburgh On motion made by Trustee Stoutenburgh, seconded by TrUstee Hataier, it was RESOLVED to approve the application of PetroleumOombustion International, Inc. for maintenance dredging to existing dock and bulkhead covered with sand by erosion at private property at Mattituck Creek. Vote of the Board: Ayes: Horton, Harris, Hataier, Nickles, Stoutenburgh Mr. Ray Nazzaro, the contractor, will furnish the Board with the specifications which would prevent an oil spill. On motion made bY Trustee Hataier, seconded by Trustee Nickles, it was RESOLVED to table the application of Kathryn Robedee for. permission to dredge and fill at private property of the applicant. at Little Creek so Mr. Harris will have an opportunity to inspect the property. Garbe for permission to rebuild,and relocate ,an existing floating dock at private property at Gull Pond. Vote oft'he Board: Ayes: Horton, Harris, Hataier, Nickles, Stoutenburgh ~. Ritter to place an offshore stake with pulley line to onshore stake off private Property ofthe applicant at Goose Creek. 294 Vote of the Board: Ayes: Horton, Harris, Hataier, Nickles, Stoutenburgh On motion'~made by Trustee Hataier, seconded by Trustee Harris, it was RESOLVED tO reaffirm the action of the Board of Town Trustees at a meeting held October 4, 1977, approving the application of Nicholas Dapcic to place an offshore stake with pulley line to onshore stake at~' the end of Gagen' s~ Landing Road at Goose Creek. This actio~ was conditioned on the receipt of description of boat and registration number which have now been received. Vote of the Board: Ayes: Horton, Harris, Ha~aier, Nickles, Stoutenburgh A letter was read from John Wickham informing the Board and DEC of work he is doing on his dikes. A letter was read from Joseph Snellenburg II protesting jetties erected and maintained by Henry J. Smith. Notice was read from Bayview Construction Company indicating their intention to repair bulkhead on Richmond's Creek at property of Bayles. · Trustee Horton said the Little Creek spoil is being carted to the causeway which is Cutchogue-New Suffolk Park District property. On motion m~de by Trustee Harris, seconded by Trustee Nickles, it was RESOLVED to request that the Army Corps of Engineers rescind its permit to Howard Petersen to place pilings in front~of'his property at MattitUck Creek. The Board of Town Trustees had denied this permit and has been unsuccessful in negotiating an alternative to the present arrangement. Vote of the Board: Ayes: Horton, Harris, Hataier, Nickles, Horton A copy of this action is to be sent to Mr. Petersen and to Frank Yakaboski, Esq. 295~ ~ ~j~ Mr. Nickles informed the Board that he had received~ a copy of a letter which was sent to Mr. Martocchia regarding the cars at Conklin's Point. There is no public access to this property and that is probably why a previous permit was denied by DEC. This is not in the jurisdiction of the~Town Trustees but an application might be sUccessful±f this was undertaken as a private project. These people should contact the Army Corps of Engineers and the DEC. Mr. Nickles will discuss it with the writer of the letter. The next regular meeting of the Board of Southold Town Trustees will be held June 6, 1978.
