A 'regular meeting of the Board of SoutholdTo~n'Trustees ~as
held'July 5, 1978 at 7:30 p.m. at the Town Hall, Main Road, Southold,
New York. Present were:

On motion made by Trustee Hataier, seconded by Trustee Harris,
it was

RESOLVED to revoke the mooring of Baldwin L. 'H~3mm upon completion
of the bulkhead and dredging.

The matter of the length of the dock applied for by Henry P.
Smith was discussed. The Board of Town Trustees (Philip Horton,
John Nickles, Anna Hataier and Paul Stoutenburgh) met at the site
on Saturday, june lC. Trustees Horton, Nickles and Hataier were
in agreement about the 100 foot length and Mr. Stoutenburgh abstained.
Trustee Stoutenb~rgh requested that the minutes show that he fe~ls
it is an excessive length o£ dock.
Motion was made by Trustee Nickles, seconded by Trustee Hataier
and carried to approve the minutes of the meeting of June 6, 1978
as amended.
Motion was made by Trustee Stoutenburgh, seconded by Trustee
Nickles and carried that permit numbers three inches high be placed
on docks and bulkheads on the seaward side in the future.
There was a brief discussion concerning the possibility of
charging an annual renewal fee for'docks. There was nothing resolved.
On motion made by Trustee Hataier, seconded by Trustee
Stoutenburgh, it was
RESOLVED to approve the application of Bernard F. Rollinson
to place an offshore stake with pulley line to onshore stake at the
end of Meadow Lane at Arshamomaque Pond.

On motion made by Trustee Hataier, seconded by Trustee Nickles,
it was ·
RESOLVED to approve the application of Michael J. Vota-to place
a 50 lb. mushroom mooring off private property at Mattituck creek.

On motion made by Trustee Hataier, seconded by Trustee Harris,
it was
RESOLVED to approve the application of Philip J. Montgomery
to place an offshore stake at end of Rochelle Place-, Jm~es Creek,
subject to the~following:
1. Mr. David Ackerman be consulted at to the exactlocation
of the stake.
2. Description of boat aud registration number be provided
within 30 days or approval will be reversed.

On motion made by Trustee Stoutenburgh, seconded by Trustee

RESOLVED to approve the application of Stan Rogalsk~ to place
a floating dock in front of private property of the applicant at
West-Lake.

The Board would like to suggest that a catwalk be placed over the
bog so it won't be eroded.~, · ~ ~ ~
Trustee Hataier reported that she had contacted Mr~ Simonson
about placing objects below the high water mark in the creek. He
has assured Trustee Hataierthat no more objects will be placed
there and if there is a strong opposition to the stump, he will
remove that also.

RESOLVED to approve the application o£ Fred. Hribok to place~a
bottom~mooring with pulley to shore off private property Ofthe
applicant at Arshamomaque P~nd subject to further inspection.

On motion made by Trustee Harris, seconded by Trustee Hataier,
it was
RESOLVED to ~oprove the application of Andrew J. Asch, Jr. to
place an offshore stake with pulley line to onshore stake off private
property ofJohn B. Tuthill at Orient Creek with .Mr. Tuthill's
permission, subject to further inspection.

On motion made by Trustee Nick!es, seconded by Trustee Hataier,
it was
RESOLVED to approve the application of Charles Guhl'to place
a 75 lb. mushroom mooring in Gull Pond, location of same to be
determined by Johnl Geidemann, subject to further inspection.

On motion made by Trustee Hataier, seconded by Trustee Harris,
it was
RESOLVED to approve the application of 'Alexander LeDonhe to
place a 75 lb. mus_hroom anchor off private property of the applicant
at Goose Creek, subject to further inspection.-

On Motion made by Trustee Horton, seconded by Trustee Hataier,
it was
RESOLVED to approve the following applications for moorings
at Narrow River upon receipt of the $5.00 application fee and the
applicant contacting Trustee Scott Harris as to the location and
number being placed on the stake.

RESOL~ZED to request that the Highway Department upgrade the
ramps and repair them and make them operable at the following
locations:

Trustee St0utenburgh made a motion, seconded by Trustee Harris
and carried that President Horton write a letter in appropriate
language to 'the M~ny Corps of Engineers regarding the reasons that
the Board of To~maTrustees recommend disapproval of a permit to
Robert Dier to place a 4' by 250' dock in the Bay 500 feet east of
Founders Landing Beach. Among the reasons to be cited are the
possible use as a commercial venture in a residentially zoned area,
consideration of"the Army Corps of Engineers as to a possible
navigational hazard, outo& character for the a es ~ ¢ o'rs
of sStting a preceden~ in.~he .area, adequatefa il .t .~ in
~mmediate area to take care.of boats of that smze. ·
Motion was made by Trustee Stoutenburgh, seconded by Trustee
Harris that .the Town Attorney, Robert Tasker, be contacted as to
whether the permit of Matt-a-Mar issued in 1966 is still valid.
Motion was carried.
The next meeting of the trustees will be held August l,' 1978.
There being no further business to come before the board,
Trustee Harris made a motion, seconded by Trustee Hataier and
carried to adjourn the meeting. Meeting adjourned at 9:30 p.m.
